If anyone’s taking it on the festive shiny front, it’s Guerlain. These pretties are almost too pretty! First up, the star of the show is the Meteorites Flocons Enchantes; glimmery snowballs and snowflakes in pearls of beige, champagne and gold. I have to say that I never use products like this but it doesn’t mean I can’t gaze at them in rapture! I think possibly the days of illuminating your cleavage are over, but as a tip, you can crush a ball (eek, I know… how could anyone?) or a snowflake and use a neater version on eyes or as a higher strength highlighter. I will say that the fragrance that eminates from this when you remove the puff – it’s just all things old style glamour. I’d have to say that my money is on the Meteorites Voyage Enchante; an illumating, matte powder that does a little soft focus thing on the skin over foundation, if your complexion can take powder. But, it’s £110. Goodness! The Flocons Enchante is £50.
The Or et Merveilles Palette (£56) is also rather beautiful; a seamlessly constructed gold, split layer palette that feels reassuringly heavy in the hand. I think this is the thing about Guerlain – while it definitely needs to start appealing (and pricing for) to a younger audience – a huge part of its appeal is the unfailingly beautiful presentation. While I think these colours are at the tail end of the neutrals trend, it’s an immaculate selection.
The second section of the palette contains four blush shades in both matte and shimmer.
Finally, from my selection, is the Rouge G Merveilleux Rose – a suit-all neutral beige-pink in a case designed by jeweller, Lorenz Baumer, with frost patterns in the mirrored casing. Again, it’s all in the packaging. If you haven’t used a Rouge G, when you remove the lipstick from the case, the case opens automatically to reveal a mirror. Clever. It’s £33.
I think all of the Guerlain Neiges & Merveilles Christmas collection falls into the ‘collectors’ market – you could never say they’re essential. But, all the wants! You can find the collection HERE.
