Givenchy Vax’in City Skin Beautifying Mist

Givenchy Vax’in City Skin Beautifying Mist

Here we go – one of the first SPF Mists to show its face for summer. I spotted this trend when I went to visit the L’Oreal Labs a couple of years ago: in Asia, they’re everywhere and have been on the tip of surfacing to mainstream here for a year or so. I can’t tell you how much I like them! It’s interesting that Givenchy has gone the ‘beautifying’ route when I think the value of this product is in the SPF30 (UVA/UVB).

There’s a micro-pearl element but you’d need to be looking very closely indeed to spot that but its claim of immediate skin softening certainly seems to work beautifully. Givenchy Vax’in City Skin Beautifying Mist sprays out as a milky spray – you do need to shake it very well indeed to get a fine mist, where the milkiness certainly won’t show on your skin or need rubbing in.  My face feels as though it has a light moisture veil over it which I love as well as the light, sun-tan-lotion scent. You can use it over makeup or bare skin.

The pleasure of these UV Mists is that, unlike most sunscreen, they’re feather light and unobtrusive on the skin. However, they’re not to be confused with sun tan lotion – this is much more of an anti-pollution, sudden-sun moment thing – it’s not for the beach. Givenchy Vax’in City Skin Beautifying Mist launches in May and it’s £30.50,

Jane – would this mist work as an out-n-about SPF booster over makeup?

After all the reading I’ve been doing about skin care, I’ve concluded I may not be doing a proper SPF routine that lasts as long as I imagine. With spring on the horizon, would you consider doing an overview of your approach to sun care? Thanks, Julia

Yes, but more temporary and for incidental sun rather than a full on hour in the blazing sunshine I should think. It’s better to think of it as environmental protection with SPF than the other way around x

The brands are already pointing to this trend, and I sincerely like this type of spray of easy application even on top of the makeup.
