Givenchy Superstellar AW16 Beauty

Don’t hate me for completely bypassing summer today and moving swiftly into autumn. The Givenchy Superstellar AW16 Beauty collection is galactic with a comic book hero and heroine twist. The front of the palette in the main picture is made to look like Wonder Woman’s belt, and exact match liner and lipsticks form part of the collection as well. The green mascara is called Hulk!

The two lipsticks are Heroic Red and Heroic Pink.

The liners are silver and inky blue, as is the nail polish – when you see them up close they are the exact shade of Wonder Woman’s outfit. It’s really only when all the pieces are together that you would connect them to Wonder Woman: individually, they keep a separate identity so if you have absolutely zero interest in comic books from bygone years, then I think you would barely notice the reference is there.

Personally, the lipsticks are the stand-outs in the Givenchy Superstellar AW16 Beauty – they’re vibrant and highly pigmented with such a smooth application like all Givenchy lippies. It remains to be seen, as this is one of the earliest A/W beauty showings, whether these colours form part of a general trend or if this quirky collection will stand out from the crowd. Le Prisme Stellar (the star palette) is gorgeously impactful and when it gets to the right time of year and we see this more in seasonal context, it’s going to be irrisistible! The pink star is a coral/pink blush, the titanium shade is an amplified silver sheen and plum is awesome on eyes any time of year.

I don’t have launch dates for this collection then but I imagine around August/September time and I have plenty of time to give it more attention then. Nicolas Degennes, who creates all of Givenchy’s beauty collections, does manage to up the ante every time – it seems to me that he has a great deal of creative freedom with the cosmetics and lets his imagination flow. It doesn’t feel, with this make-up artist, that everything is financially driven but that a great deal of emphasis is placed on being different and individual, which is very refreshing.

You are forgiven for bypassing Summer but not for the dearth of fashion and or accessory posts of late, I’ve missed them.

I will get back on them then! I was going to do a Fitflop one this week so I’ll ensure it happens come what may.
