Eve Lom Complexion Collection
It’s quite brave move, I think, to venture into colour when your area of expertise is skin care. It’s not like we are short of make up in the UK! However, the Eve Lom Complexion Collection launches into SpaceNK stores in February with some very decent pieces.
I’ve had a play with some of the items, so I’ll run through initial impressions. Radiance Perfected Tinted Moisturiser (£48) is available in 12 shades and has UVA/UVB – the key ingredient in most of the products is BerryFlux Vita, a raspberry extract noted for boosting hydration and hyaluronic acid content. It’s surprisingly thick (it reminded me of a CC cream) but blends down to a veil that’s beautifully hydrating. I can really feel the difference on my skin. Radiance Perfected Radiance Lift Foundation (£50). I didn’t get along with this so well, mainly because it’s a matte formula and that has to work really hard to be flattering on skin with any lines or flaws. However, it’s very skin softening and again, comes in 12 shades. If you love a matte finish, though, then it’s a nicely creamy formula that blends well and it contains SPF15. I really didn’t spot any lifting. Noticeably, there are no shades for darker skin tones and that’s a shame. Brilliant Cover Concealer (£30) is a fabulous concealer; I noticed it did stick around a tiny bit on under eye creases, so I’d use this around my nose and to cover any other discolouration, but it’s very good indeed for that purpose. The concealer gives a radiance effect that I could actually see and didn’t feel at all drying. I fully expected to dislike Natural Radiance Mineral Foundation (£45) because I am not a powder fan at all, but in fact, it’s easily one of the best I’ve used. It has the mildest smatter of shimmer to it that was only noticeable in the magnifying mirror of doom, and it hasn’t made my skin feel or look at all dry, other than on one tiny dry patch near my skin, but all powders will do that anyway.
There are some beautiful products in the range; the softening textures are spot on and I think this will do rather well although I’m disappointed that there isn’t any option for darker tones. If you enter an already crowded market then a significant point of difference would have been good. Maybe it will come later. Look out for the launch in February.
