Mega-vlogger, Michelle Phan, has launched her own range, EM, and it’s huge! 250 items so she means business. Actually, it’s backed by L’Oreal which means that because L’Oreal is a global brand we stand some chance of seeing it here.
EM Shadow Play PaletteThe thing I’m the most surprised about is the price point – the palette above is $38 and the top image palette is $75.
The site HERE is packed with tutorials but to be honest, much as I like the range, it seems aimed towards a young audience (Michelle fans probably, of which there are millions) but the prices don’t really reflect a young audience budget. There seems to be a disconnect. However, much in the way that 1D make up is selling like hot-cakes, this will probably do really well – but it remains to be seen whether the You Tube Beauty Gurus that have a strong ‘fan’ base as opposed to a relevant beauty engaged audience are in it for the long-haul, brand wise.
It’s one to watch for sure, for a variety of reasons.

I agree with you about the price point – I was expecting it to be standard drugstore type prices or maybe slightly higher, Soap & Glory price point maybe.
The packaging is really ugly for this price…
Agree with above. Doesn’t look too appealing and it’s very expensive!
as soon as i heard about her bringing a line i knew i had to be skeptic
people seem to have forgotten IQQU??
I love Michelle but really don’t like the look of these palettes. I’m never a fan of powders and creams in one palette as they remind me of play makeup from argos for kids! I think the price is ridiculous too x
A lot of people are kvetching about the prices on her Youtube channel. I agree that for the price, the packaging should be more grown up, even if the product is excellent…
Im undecided about these palettes… not sure if im going to buy!

i love michelle so much, all these years she shared affordable makeup options and launching a high-end brand and with this packaging is confusing:( But good luck with that anyways.
Hi BBB,
Have you had a preview of Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup line (to debut September 2)? This reader from the US wants to know …
Not yet.. they’re being very secretive.. I was invited to see it but it’s under an embargo so didn’t quite see the point in going. It better be good is all I can say after all this fuss!
I’m not to keen with the packaging and the pricing. I thought that Michelle Phan would be smart about it to target her make up line making it budget friendly for young teen and adults. I’m surprise that L’oreal are willing to launch her own makeup line at her own base store in NYC not rather in drugstores first. I’m not sure how long the store will last in this economy.
