[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Well, who knew? I was initially confused about whether Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Daily Hydrating Body Lotion has always existed or whether it was brand new. It fits so well into the 8 Hour stable that I had to do a double take.
I’m a words person but even so, I always admire the ability to break down what a moisturiser can do. The Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Daily Hydrating Body Lotion bottle is a great example – I mean, what does revitalise mean in this context? Like the brand teams that brain storm nail polish names, I’d love to sit at the table and thrash out all the words that will make a moisturiser seem like so much more. It’s an art, I’m telling you!
Another new kid on the 8 Hour block is 8 Hour HydraPlay Skin Perfecting Daily Moisturiser which I’ve been trying over my SPF. There’s always an edgy moment where you think your ingredients might be disagreeable with each other and create those little squirls that are so annoying but HydraPlay works like a charm in creating soft and glowy skin over which you can add your base without the whole lot feeling cloying and heavy.
I’d recommend the HydraPlay over the Body Lotion because it has more to offer that’s over and above what a regular moisturiser does whereas I’m not so sure the Body Lotion does. It’s very pleasant, don’t get me wrong, but the squalane (derived from sugar cane) along with hyaluronic acid in HydraPlay gives it an edge and it’s a very easy product to like.
I like the fact that HydraPlay has an oil control element – that’s something that gets neglected often in daily moisturisers and it feels cool and moisturising straight away. It feels premium (it’s £35 but Boots has it for £28 HERE) and I’d recommend for skin types that dry out during the day because the hydration is lasting, or for oil prone skin that needs some moderate element of control. The Body Lotion is £29 (Boots has it for £23.20 HERE) and I’d recommend that for a morning moisturise because it skins in so quickly you won’t need to wait before you get dressed.
