Color Wow

Last time Mr BBB was in NY, I made him bring back some stuff called Rita Hazan Root Concealer – a bit like a coloured hairspray to disguise grey roots at the in-between stage when you don’t quite need to go for the full salon touch up but a few sneaky greys are starting to show. I admit I have never used it. I’m not nearly grey enough to get the ‘badger’ parting but to be fair it looks like a brilliant interim cosmetic treatment to disguise it.

So, along comes Color Wow, which I feel might be more appropriate for the odd stray grey and when I can’t muster up enthusiasm to do a full home dye. Color Wow is an oil based mineral powder that isn’t waxy or greasy, but will sit on the hair quite naturally. And – it claims to stay in place from wash to wash. I’m definitely giving this one a whirl and I’ll report back when I do – anything that stretches time between dyes is a good thing; and although I refuse to do the salon dye thing, if this stuff is as good as it looks, it’s a money saver too because you’ll be able to extend your time between visits.

It’s £28.50 for a 3 month (ish) supply.

  1. I would be REALLY interested to hear how it fares BBB – I have jet black hair and am substantially grey (well white, actually) now at 33 (thanks, parents, for the premature greying gene). Nowt sticks out like white roots in black hair – and I cannot be bothered to dye more often, I hate the process so much. This, if it works, would be a godsend! x

  2. Oh. Sad to see there’s no black option available. Disappointing!

  3. Butterpuff

This stuff is absolutely brilliant! I’ve tried tonnes of these root thingies over the years and this is the only one that’s worked. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

  4. Not Just Inside

I certainly need something like this

  5. *Hands up* Went grey at 21 (thanks to mum) and have dyed every since. Everything to stop my hairdresser complaining I leave it too long between dyes.
