If you love a velvet finish foundation, then I’m pretty sure that Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet is going to be right up your street. The consistency is very glossy and fluid (but not runny) allowing for easy blending but goes onto the skin as a matte finish. It’s genuinely light-feeling on the skin and it’s indicated for oily and combination skin.

The oily and combination rings true – when I tested it I felt it was a little dry on my (non-oily) skin and I can tell it has a high proportion of powders to mattify. What’s also interesting about Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet is that it claims a blur effect and again this does ring true as my skin looked surprisingly smooth! I also noticed that coverage is good in that it does even out the tone very well.
As a luxury foundation for the combination/oily skin market, this is a proper treat – beautiful consistency and finish. While I can’t test for the long-last mattifying effect, I think this skin area is under-served and Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet is a great addition, only let down by a rather small choice of colours (6). It launches on the 11th April for £33. There are some great swatches HERE although bear in mind different countries have different colour options.
