The Body Shop Early Harvest Raspberry Body Scrub

I think that this is not a new formula for Body Shop, but it’s new to me . What is new with The Body Shop Early Harvest Raspberry Body Scrub is the fact that they’re early harvest raspberries. No idea what that means but you should smell this stuff! It’s incredible. Full of raspberry sweetness but a tiny bit sharp as well.

And, if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to cover yourself in jam, unless you actually do cover yourself in jam, this is probably the closest you’ll ever come. There are little seeds suspended in a gel (along with walnut shell powder) that really do make for an effective exfoliator. And you will smell like a freshly made trifle when you’re done, especially if you follow on with Early Harvest Raspberry Body Butter (smells like a delicious raspberry milkshake).

Generally, I’m not that keen on foodie smells, but this amplified raspberry scent is delicious! Just don’t leave it near your toast – anything could happen.

Don’t have a launch date yet but I’ll update when I do.

  2. I BELIEVE they did this in the past and was a ‘made for sale’ product. It’s repackaged and renamed like they did with Peach and it becoming Vineyard Peach (or something like that). They trialled it (the original) in the store I worked in when I was 17 (6 years ago) and then decided to have it during the big spring and New Year’s sales.

The Body Scrub, if it is in fact the same, is incredible and I 100% agree with you Jane. I will for the record admit to tasting it and unfortunately it’s very salty and also, I believe, contains an ingredient that prevents you from eating it (or at least keeping it down if you do). I will be buying PLENTY of this when it goes live.

  3. This looks good enough to eat! Looks gorgeous x

This is interesting as I read only in the last week or so, that the US is banning the little gel exfoliant bubble things in cosmetics as it’s a huge pollution problem as they don’t dissolve. I think it was in the pacific. Not sure where I read it could have been NYT, Washington Post, Huffington Post, Daily Beast or even the Telegraph. I think the ban is to come in over the next 5 years or so. Bubble things I think are called beads?

    1. Would be interested to know what your are refering too exactly 🙂

I’ve looked through my history on my PC to find the article but but it’s too vast! But environmental experts have raised the issue that the exfoliant beads in cosmetics such as the beads in this scrub are causing environmental damage as they don’t dissolve and end up just floating in the ocean, as a result the US is banning the use of such beads in cosmetics within the next five years. Hopefully, I’ve made myself a little clearer for you:)

I don’t think there are beads in this.. it’s walnut powder particles and seeds.. although I think I heard that Body Shop stopped using plastic micro beads last year because of the environmental issue.

Plastic micro beads are bad for the environment. A research study found twice as many micro sized particles in Marine environments (Lake Huron I believe, but not sure) than was previously assumed not sure but I think I remember 450 000 particlesper square kilometer) which has obvious reprecussions for marine life on the planet. Conequently the idea is to use more natural products and not plastic mirco spheres in cosmetics/exfoliators

Just checked: University of New York is one of them
study was done in Summer 2012

As Jane says, there are no plastic micro-beads in this product, only natural exfoliators (raspberry seeds, walnut shell particles) which are presumably biodegradable. I think you may have got confused by the word ‘gel’ and associated it in your mind with plastic – but think of “shower gel” etc, it is just the name for a non-runny, more jelly-like liquid formula. You are quite right that plastic micro-beads, and also plastic glitter as in some bath-bombs etc, are a huge environmental concern – but don’t tar a product that is specifically using natural exfoliating ingredients with the same brush!

  8. the problem with the tinted body scrubs is that they make a huge mess in the shower and also look super gross on the skin when you’re using them.

  9. Love me a good Body Shop scrub but this looks like it could get really messy in my all-white bathroom!
