Beauty Packing

When I went to Spain at the weekend, I decided to travel hand-luggage only so really needed to pare back any beauty bits to fit into that unreasonably small plastic bag that you have to use. Actually, almost the entire plane went hand-luggage only, to the point that they ran out of room onboard and some people’s stuff had to go in the hold. So, this is what I took:

For make-up (although it all looks rather grimy in this picture!) I took Lanolips, Garnier BB in that little pot, a Bobbi Palette, Benefit Kohl Liner, Daniel Sandler Blush and Brush, Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara and YSL Lipstain.

For personal care, I was relying on the Asia Gardens Hotel to provide some nice bathroom stuff, which they did, in the form of a herb based body moisture, bubble bath and shower gel. I took a teeny Nivea Deoderant, that little pack of Nivea wipes that I’ve had for nearly ever so can’t remember where they came from, a mini bottle of BIOEffect Face Serum, toothpaste and a Fekkai Glossing Shampoo. I completely forgot conditioner so whacked a bit of BIOEffect in my hair instead which seemed to do the trick and act as a hair serum.

Unbelievably, I still had a bit of room in the tiny plastic bag.. that has to be a first! Any recommendations for small-size beauty must-haves for weekends away? I’d love to know.

  1. ren and kiehl’s do great minis – especially the shower gels. i usually take a mini shower gel, whatever moisturisers i have sachets of and a mini toner, plus decant my shampoo and conditioner into little plastics. a mini toothpaste and deoderant, mini antibacterial handgel, eighthour cream and then whatever make up i have room for! (yes my plastic bag is normally bulging!)

Must mention inglots magnetic pallettes, where a powder, blush, lip tint, some shadows and an eyebrow color powder easily fits. Has made my packing of cabin luggage so much easier!

I’m another one who saves up sample sizes where I can. I find they do anywhere from a weekend to a week away, depending.

Otherwise, the real must haves for me are a tinted moisturiser (no need to pack foundation), the small water spray from Avene, travel sizes of Charles Worthington shampoo & conditioners, two baby washcloths and a soap-free cleanser I can use on face and body (I like Organic Surge SLS free gel cleanser) along with a toothbrush and small tube of toothpaste. I always have lip balm, gloss, a mini mascara and mini fragrance and a small hairbrush in my bag so I don’t need to think about them.

Oh, and two bottles of water. Travelling is thirsty work!

  4. Vanity is an addiction

I rely on small containers I got from Muji to pack all my essentials along with me..they are so sturdy and convenient..

I put my eyeshadows etc into another small makeup bag to maximize on the liquids I can bring. Sample sachets are so handy as well

  6. I’m shocked by how well you’ve packed! Mine is embarrassingly much larger! I’ve found that requesting samples from beauty counters are a good way to obtain mini sized products – and they’re free xx

when I went to India with my family for three weeks we went hand lugage only. we took bulging plastic bags with all our skin care ( and mozzie stuff) . Little Dr.Hauschka minis of Cleansing Milk, Facial Toner and Moisturiser lasted 3 weeks plus hotel mini soaps and shampoos. And eyeshadow palette. I think I knew face makeup would be a waste of time in that heat so I gave it up and wore lots of suncream which also squeezed into the bulging bag!

  8. I can’t believe that I still haven’t tried Lanolips! And I plan to get that Garnier BB cream soon.
I also take my foundation/TM in a small jar when I am travelling for a few days.

  9. oh yes those little round tubs are really useful for decanting foundation / tinted moisturiser, or hair products.
