The Beaut.ie and BBB Magazine Awards: The Results Are In!

When we embarked on this reader-led poll several weeks ago, we had no idea what the outcome would be. We didn’t get any say ourselves, other than defining the categories, it was all up to blog readers to make the call about their favourite magazines. Interestingly, the start was slower than we’d expected but soon gathered pace with thousands of votes in the end. So the winners:

Best UK Magazine: Grazia.

Best For Beauty: Glamour.

Best For Fashion: Look.

Best Monthly Magazine: Glamour.

Best Weekly Magazine: Grazia.

Basically, Glamour and Grazia scooped the board! We’re surprised at the Best Fashion Magazine result: no Vogue and no Elle.. and not even close. Look’s easy and accessible fashion was the reader’s choice, meaning that what we’re after is fast and affordable fashion and a magazine packed with translatable ideas. Glamour and Grazia both took their categories by a clear mile with Grazia claiming 40% of votes in the Best UK Magazine category.

So, here we have it; the most current and up-to-date survey of what you’re reading and loving in magazine-world. Thanks to everyone who took part and particularly to my friends at www.beaut.ie who had all the counting to do!

  1. It was a great idea and I’m not surprised that vogue or elle didn’t feature here as 90% of the fashion and beauty they feature is not accessible to us mere mortals. I definitely agree with the winners 🙂

  2. I’d be curious to see how the choices correlate with newspaper readership. Grazia (which would not have been my personal choice – I suppose I’d pick Red if I had to) always seems like the Mail on glossy paper to me.

  3. Great to see the results and not too surprised. I might have thought Company would have made a showing as find that very pricepoint friendly, if a little ‘young’ but the public have spoken.

I do read Elle and Vogue, but mainly online (love Elle Beauty Notes and the Vogue Beauty Blog) but in the magazine it can seem a bit like an ad, and when I do like a piece they have such limited wordcount they don’t go too in depth.

Thanks for this- will be great to see the mags reactions.

PS. Women’s Health is pretty new, but worth checking out for smart n sassy advice.
