anatome Crystal Pot Pourri

[productsample] I thought these aroma infused crystals, £22, made a good alternative to fragranced candles, the idea being that you buy the jar of crystals and drop essential oil mixes – depending upon your mood – onto the crystals which then creates a fragrant pot pourri that doesn’t look like floor sweepings.

I’ve got a couple of little niggles however despite this being a very nice idea. The oil elixir I have, Balance & Stability, £35, doesn’t seem to have the power required to scent further outside of the jar – at least, not enough to infuse a room with the fragrances. It’s fine when you have a sniff at the jar – you get a lovely, spa-ish waft of Geranium, Black Spruce and Neroli – but you need to be purposeful for it – it won’t just come at you. There is a bed time mix – Recovery & Sleep which would work well as an elixir to have on your bedside table where you are probably near enough to smell it well enough. Far safer than a candle, obviously, which personally, I would never have lit all night.

My other niggle is wonky labels! Especially annoying when they’re on products designed to help you unwind and relax because it’s so immediately irritating. That’s just poor quality control at the brand end and little things like this really do matter – I’d be very put off gifting something with a label that looked like I’d stuck it on myself after a glass of wine.

Despite those surface issues, I’m drawn to apothecary brands like this one because they focus on self care which is so important. anatome has some lovely blends – carrot, cedarwood and tumeric soap or the tea tree, peppermint and cucumber variant that sounds delish and don’t look in the least wonky. Perhaps I was just unlucky (I chose the items I wanted to feature). I think if you’re drawn to self care brands, you’ll like anatome – they’ve got teas, supplements and even a wellness clinic in the heart of London that will focus on your nutrition and lifestyle. It’s probably something we should all do.
