At just over 5ft 3″, maxi dresses are a bit of a nightmare – I always have to have them taken up unless I can find something made specifically for petites. Once you’ve factored in the cost of lopping off half of what you’ve just bought, buying a cheap and cheerful maxi for the beach is not possible!

I’d probably shove a white or fluro racer-back t-shirt under it though if I wasn’t keeping it for the beach (and hence a bikini bra!). It’s £25 HERE. I’m going to focus a bit more on stuff for petites I think… trousers are also a nightmare and the best I’ve found for my height are the Zara basic zip ankle ones.. they’re probably meant to be three-quarters on everyone else ;-).

LOVE this post. Being 5’3″ myself, it’s super hard to find clothing that fits. I’m not quite “petite”. At work I have to wear smart suit trousers and I find the ones from New Look to be great. They do different lengths and they last really well.
I get most of my maxi dresses from Asos! I’m 5ft1, and they’re the only place I’ve ever bought long dresses from that I haven’t had to get taken up.
Love this dress! Not quite sure on the back. Would love to see more posts for petite’s since I am only 5ft! Not many highstreet stores sell ranges for funsized girlies.

If you love the Zara zip jeans then you should try the skinny short length jeans from Gap, which are the same length and similar cut, but often better quality in terms of seams and sewing. I am EXACTLY the same height as you (a smidge over 5 3), and have EXACTLY the same problem! I love both the Zara jeans and the Gap ones.
