Essie Spring 2014

Essie Spring 2014

It’s quite a late launch for Essie Spring 2014, because these shades don’t launch til April – well worth the wait, though. Maybe because (luckily) in London and the south east we haven’t really had any harsh winter (yet) I am feeling for spring right now. It’s a gorgeous sunny morning and I need these on my nails! So the line up is from left to right: Style Hunter, Spin the Bottle and Romper Room.

And, now the blues, again from left to right: Truth Or Flare, Fashion Playground and Hide And Go Chic. I must admit, my top pick is the milky, pale blue of Truth Or Flare which is going to be spring perfection when all the pastel clothes start hitting the stores. I’ve seen quite a bit of neon forthcoming, fashion wise, and yet so far, none of the spring nails are reflecting that. I love neon but I think that beauty brands were hoping it would just go away! Essie polishes are up there in my favourite category; the quality is always good and the collections are always exciting.

On the subject of polishes, OPI seems to have died a bit of a death in the UK – a couple of years ago an OPI launch was a major deal and now I hardly see anything of it.

  1. I really like the look of the blues! Truth or Flare looks gorgeous.

  2. I get what you mean by opi, I collect them (got well over 100, sssh!) but they seem far more concerned with the US market. There is a Gwen stefani colkection coming out this month in which a lot of the colours are just quite samey, then the last two years they have had Mariah Carey collections, neither of those women, although fabulous, are particularly ‘on trend’ here. Essie are bringing out new colours all the time, whereas opi do seem to throwing out the same pinks and reds.

  4. I’ve actually never bought an Essie polish so maybe I’ll try one of the spring blues. I like the look of fashion playground. I’m an OPI girl but opened minded about it!

  5. O.o the blues are gorgeous!!

Like the bubblegum pink, but would never wear it!

Blues are much more wearable 🙂

As a huge fan of OPI, I totally agree – you don’t hear enough of their launches etc.

  7. Love the pinks, gorgeous! I’ve also just posted a nail post.

  8. The top shades are a bit take or leave for me – seen them all before and I probably have them in one form or another in my collection already. I do like the blues, though, particularly the first one.
And you’re right about OPI… Now that you’ve mentioned it, I haven’t heard anything about them for ages. What a shame!

Want them all! Especially the mint and the red… OPI’s died out in the UK because it’s expensive and hard to get hold of. Nobody wants to trek to the outskirts of town to the nail supply shop when you can just get decent essie polishes in boots whilst you’re already out shopping. Plus, the OPI colours aren’t really that amazing anymore. However, the gold matte and silver chrome polishes from the Gwen Stefani collection are good! 🙂

    These colors look absolutely stunning!

  11. These trios are gorgeous! I know what you mean. I’ve seen OPI in poundland – which can’t be a good sign.

I want the whole of the bottom row at the very least, beautiful colours however the top row is still complete ‘Spring’ wearable. OPI – I completely agree that they now seem to focus purely on the american market rather than international. They have seemed to lost their way a bit over the past few years, which is a huge shame as I used to look forward to the collections so much and used them when I was training in manicure.

  13. I would buy something from every OPI release two years ago, I haven’t bought anything in the last 12 months at least! I’m in love with Essie and much prefer them!

Truth Or Flare is decidedly in my list. Spin The Bottle, maybe…
