Prai Ageless Throat & Decolletage Cream #AD

A while back, I wrote about Cathy Kangas, brand owner of Prai that specialises in beauty matters of the neck. She’s an avid dog lover (and charity supporter) which is what caught my attention initially. That, and the fact that her star product, Prai Ageless Throat & Decolletage Cream, sells by the vat load with almost universal rave reviews.

I’m rather fascinated by necks – it seems wrong somehow that right between our head and body we have something where the skin is thinner and less resilient and for a thing that connects two such important parts, you’d expect it to be stronger – super-powered, in fact. It’s a matter of very great annoyance to many women that despite lavishing attention on ourselves head to foot, necks never seem to quite match up to the face or the body. It’s not really a question of ‘anti-ageing’ our necks, but more to keep the skin resilient, soft and firm and in keeping with the rest of us.

I have always been rather sceptical of products specifically for the neck and felt that whatever I was using on my face would be just as good. I didn’t know, genuinely, that the thinner skin on the neck area responds better to a light cream (think eye cream weight) than a heavy cream. Ideally, anything, such as Prai, that boosts collagen and helps with elasticity, made to a lighter weight formula will be more easily absorbed by that thinner skin. Prai also contains shea butter, squalene, glycerine and vitamins A, E and F, plus my favourite ingredient, hyaluronic acid.

In consistency, it’s feathery light – anyone who has ever slathered on a gooey unguent will know the feeling of slimy neck, especially at night – but that doesn’t happen here. A really heavy neck cream seems to cause skin to sweat more so weight is a double no if you want to sleep in any comfort at all. I’ve used Prai enough to attest to the fact that it leaves a silky, not greasy, finish.

What makes me more happy is that it’s affordable. The number of times a wonder cream comes along that is prohibitive price wise for so many is infuriating. This is £19.99 HERE which I feel is very reasonable. It’s a big ask of many budgets to add a ‘special’ cream for a given area when surely the one will do? But, in terms of effectiveness vs price, I feel Prai is an exception to the rule.

As a tip, treat your neck gently! Don’t ‘thoroughly’ massage as you might your arms or legs – pamper and pat that thing as kindly as you would a baby! Thinner skin that lacks strength is easily stretched and reddened. I’m as guilty of that as anyone and also of treating my neck as an afterthought (if indeed, any thoughts!) but being nice to your neck will pay off. Oh, and despite the ‘ageless’ tag, there’s no right or wrong age to use appropriate products in that area. Start when you start, although I think we’d all agree that when you begin a proper skin care routine, it’s a good time to include your neck.

Prai Ageless Throat & Decolletage Cream is launching into Boots today so is something to consider if you have points going spare. Boots have very strong and savvy buyers, so if something is selling at one every sixty seconds (as Prai does), they want to know why! Despite amazing sales, Prai is a small brand that’s earned its place on our high street through great customer feedback and affordable, effective products. No wonder the buyers snapped it up.

  1. Great tips in this post. I’m trying to pay more attention to my neck and decolletage now that I’m in my thirties and I didn’t realize how differently I should be treating it. Looks like a neck cream is going in my purchase list!
