At The House of Fraser Beauty Event #ad

I’m heading up north on 23rd March to hold a 6pm Q&A about beauty blogging at House of Fraser Metrocentre and then back to London for more of the same on the 24th at House of Fraser Oxford Street. In particular, I’ll be hoping to talk about the lack of older beauty bloggers and encouraging everyone to have a go! Experience counts for so much and if you’re sitting there with a head full of product knowledge then there are many women who’d love to read what you have to say. Ultimately though, it’s anything you ever wanted to ask…go ahead!

My Q&A is part of the House of Fraser Beauty Event, running between 21st March and 3rd April that includes £10 off a spend of £50 (all too easily done!) on House of Fraser’s selection of 30 products. I can do my best to advise if you’re hesitating over any products with impartial input as I’m not affiliated to any particular brand. There will also be two masterclasses from make-up brands at the event to show you how to wear the season’s bright colours or finally nail that smoky eye look. Oh, and champagne. There will be bubbles!

This is a lovely opportunity for me to visit the Metrocentre which I’ve heard so much about for its phenomenal shopping, and of course, the Oxford Street store which I know so well already.

If you’ve got any questions you’d like to Tweet, you can send them to @houseoffraser or @britbeautyblog #bigbeautyevent. House of Fraser will be Periscoping both evenings (HouseofFraser) and I’ll try and do some from my own account as well (britbeautyblog).

I hope that you’ll join me. Tickets for the event are £10 (with a £1 booking fee – no booking fee if you book in store) for Metrocentre HERE and for Oxford Street, go HERE. Obviously, the ticket price is redeemable against purchase.

Sounds good, wish I could be there.
We do need more older bloggers, and would be helpful for impartial input, it would be good to go into a store,or online and get advice on products rather than a beauty counter trying to sell you as much as possible from there own brand.

When I go in boots and ask a question on skin care, they say oh not sure and they just do what I do read the label.

Yes you could argue that older women know there own skin, some do not, with menopause and other illness that takes its toll on the skin.

So many products out there now, can get very confusing.

Hope all goes well at the event, just sad I can not be there .

Oh my god, this is what it must feel like to be a teenager and One Direction tickets go on sale!

  3. Your lucky audience, Jane. Have fun. I hope you’ll have time to write it up and that we’ll see lots more older bloggers.

  6. Sounds like two great events, I’m sorry I can’t make it. As well as more older bloggers, I think we need to see more brands looking beyond the young and pretty ones when they collaborate with bloggers. It’s very frustrating as a consumer to read a review of a product aimed at the over 40s written by a twentysomething who has no real clue how to evaluate it.

    Hi Joanne

    I agree, good point

  8. I wish you were coming to Leeds – the House of Fraser store is quite small here though! I got cut off as I was travelling while watching your last 2 Periscopes btw, so if I disappear while I am watching, Jane, it’s not because I’m bored, but because I’ve lost my connection!

    1. Jane

ah don’t worry Sue.. people dip in and out for all sorts of reasons but thank you for explaining x

  9. Thoroughly agree with Joanne … the number of times a 12-year old has told me about a ‘new’ moisturiser/foundation/blusher/whatever and shown me on her own hand … clueless. One of the few things I enjoyed about living in the US was the older and very knowledgeable women working at the makeup counters in the department stores.

I got irationally overexcited there, thinking it was the 24th you were coming to the MetroCentre and typically I’m at work until 8pm on the 23rd. We never get these sort of events up north, so I’m gutted to miss out. I would have been there with bells on – probably quite literally!

One of the things I find totally gets overlooked – and even with older bloggers – is not the skin concerns, but how we deal with changing our makeup, and the colours we wear to suit our changing hair colour if we embrace the grey.

  11. I wish was able to attend, this sounds amazing! I’ll have to think of some questions to ask!

    1. Jane

      please do xx

  12. I’m coming to Metrocentre tomorrow! Can’t wait 🙂 Jane I have brow and under-eye questions for you!!! 🙂

Okay great.. looking forward to meeting you – I will do my best!

  13. Can’t wait. I’ve changed venue for a girl’s night from the pub to House of Fraser. Questions about hooded/oily eyes and make up transfer at the ready!

    1. Jane

Ooh _ I know the answer to those!
