Clinique Chubby In The Nude #AD

If I flip through the big beauty Rolodex in my head, previous stick foundations were rather oily affairs that left skin shiny and felt hefty on the skin. That’s something that you could never level at Clinique Chubby In The Nude which is a whole other thing in portable foundations. Much as I love a cushion foundation, I’ve got to admit that this beats them hands down in terms of convenience and ease of use.

Clinique’s new version of a stick foundation is a completely different texture to any that I’ve previously tried. It has a dry feel to it that you think can’t possibly blend, but it does, and gives a light to medium coverage quickly and easily with a ‘real skin’ look to the finish. The strange thing is that once on your complexion, you can barely feel that it is there and my skin has not once felt dry using this. I would have laid money down that it would!

There’s a much less serious side to Clinique emerging – it’s a brand that’s focussing on fun and the unexpected in beauty, so where you get to ‘play’ with Chubby In The Nude is the application. Be liberal with your stripes! Clinique suggests applying two to three horizontal lines across the forehead, one line down the nose and two to three horizontal lines across the cheeks, finishing with one line across the chin. However, I’ve been doing a tiger-stripe kind of thing over the sides of my face and easily found that was plenty to cover the nose and chin. I’m using a finger-tip blend, but you can just as easily use a brush (Clinique has a brand new buffing brush that’s soft and gentle on the skin).

In terms of practical use, I have topped up with Chubby In The Nude during the day many times in places that foundation tends to leave more quickly than I’d like. I’m using the stick in the way that we all used to use powder (back in the day) as a makeup refresher, so a quick stripe across the nose and cheeks instead of a puff of drying powder.

There’s not much, in terms of makeup refreshing, that doesn’t require a full re-start, but that’s not the case here. It works just as well as a concealer (you might want to carry a cotton bud if you’re using to cover an active blemish) but if you have a lot of creases under or around your eyes, these need to be well moisturised first. If you’re crease free, and need an instant dark circle cover up, Chubby In The Nude is your best bag buddy.

I love new textures and innovations. There are so many exciting developments in the beauty industry right now, but many leave practicality at the door. Chubby In The Nude is winning at ease of use, literally anywhere, and delivering on comfort and coverage thanks to moisturising coconut fatty-acids and Vitamin E.

There are 10 shades in the new range, which launches today for £23 HERE.

  1. These look really good, might have to give them a go! I tried the Clinique chubby stick for contour and I loved the formula but the colour was way too warm for me, have you tried the darker shades of this foundation for contouring? X

    1. Jane

I don’t contour but I did notice in swatching that the darker shades are all on the warm side.

Am so excited for this! I’m getting so lazy with my foundation these days, as much as I love the finish of some of my liquid foundations in my mind it feels like a chore even though Im using my fingers. These sticks sound less “faffy” somehow even though I’d once again use my fingers to blend. Can’t for these to reach Sweden!

I discern a small amount of product .

  4. I’ll have to check these out next time I’m shopping – how do you think they would fair for a drier skin type?
    Sending love from http://bendybeautyblog.wordpress.com

    1. Jane

I wouldn’t advise for drier skin types.

  5. Kim

These look like fun, I love Chubby Sticks for lips so will look out for them!

I finally bought this after seeing all the reviews. I’ve been waiting for a stick foundation after KIKO discontinued their’s. I find Bobbi Brown stick foundation way too heavy and it erases all your features. CITN is perfect colour match for me and I love the light but buildable coverage. I’ve binned all my other foundations!
