[productsample/affiliate] This post is to flag up these new products – both aimed at blemish prone skin. I haven’t, other than top-line for texture, etc, tried either as mercifully my skin is clear. But, there never seems to be as much choice in more premium skin care for that particular skin type so I feel that they’re both very welcome additions.

Two New Products For Blemish Prone Skin

First up, Origins Clear Improvement Oil-Free Moisturizer with Bamboo Charcoal. I was curious enough about bamboo charcoal (as opposed to other charcoals) to do a bit of research – apparently, it’s usually produced from a particular type of bamboo that grows extremely quickly – up to two feet in one day which means it can reach a height of 60 feet in a couple of months. Most bamboo comes from Asia, and in skin care is used to draw impurities from the complexion.  There are some questions around how effective this can be given the limited amount of time it is on the skin, although I’m more convinced by a moisturiser (than, say, a face wash) that will stay put for several hours. There, so that’s our bamboo facts out of the way. I swear that Origins have made this cream to the exact Dior grey pantone – it’s the first thing I noticed! It’s got a slightly medical smell to it and feels more like a gel-cream than a true ‘cream’ although it’s lovely on the skin – it feels both hydrating and skin softening.  1% salicylic acid is a BHA so works as an enzymatic exfoliator ensuring that pores don’t become clogged. It doesn’t seem unreasonably priced at £28 and definitely feels like a win for problematic skin. Origins has an offer which seems extremely good – a set for £30 that contains Checks & Balances™ Frothy Face Wash, 30ml, Clear Improvement™ Charcoal Face Mask, 15ml, Clear Improvement™ Oil-Free Moisturizer, 30ml, Super Spot Remover™ Blemish Treatment Gel altogether with a value of £40. It’s HERE… I can’t imagine it will stay in stock for long. I’m giving my sample set to my son who will be delighted.

Two New Products For Blemish Prone Skin

Next up is REN’s ClearCalm Non Drying Spot Treatment. One of the problems with treating blemishes is that they can dry out not only the spot but the surrounding skin. Two common (and effective) ingredients for spots are salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, with the latter being more drying and one to consider avoiding if it’s too harsh for you. REN’s treatment contains salicylic acid (and also lactic acid) combined with willow bark extract, pine and thyme to reduce redness. It also uses a prebiotic complex, while xylitol prevents dryness. It comes out of the tube as a kind of clear brownish liquid with a fresh herbal smell that dissipates quite quickly. ClearCalm Non Drying Spot Treatment is £15 HERE. Super handy, I should think, for keeping in your handbag or desk drawer when you get that first sign of an eruption to give immediate treatment. Non aff HERE.
