[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Yes, Dr Pimple Popper strikes again! I genuinely am a fan of the SLMD range and in particular the glycolic body lotion (that’s been out of stock for months – please hurry up and bring it back!). Sandra Lee’s latest launch (in June) is this Salicylic Acid Spot Corrector which is nicely portable to keep in your bag.

SLMD Salicylic Acid Spot Corrector

The spot product that I used to love (when the children were teens) was Origins Blemish Treatment Gel and I still keep some in my drawer for the odd occasion (although not that infrequent at the moment for me). The SLMD version – because there are plenty of salicylic products – is a bit of saviour if you suddenly start to feel an eruption but it’s extra so because of the roller ball that delivers the product almost already cooled. That part was tested by me yesterday as yet another hormonal spot tried to make it’s way out – this morning, things are calmer and it took away that kind of hot feeling that you get when a zit is brewing. It’s claiming a longer term effect of helping to improve the dark marks that blemishes can leave behind – I speak as someone who has exactly that right now!

I know that some people are divided on the roller ball concept but I like it for accuracy and more importantly, when you feel a spot brewing you’re not always in the right location to get out a cotton bud and bottle of whatever to start dabbing. This is quick and discreet. Something I’ve experienced is dry skin around the spot area that’s probably a result of being fat fingered in application resulting in skin drying out too widely. So, the roller ball has it’s place, I think. There is alcohol in the product (alcohol denat and alcohol) neither of which are deemed great for skin, but this highlights just how complicated skin care has got. I can’t believe that it would be in a product like this unless it needed to be there, and as a spot treatment, I’m not at all bothered by its presence. Looking around various dermatology sites, it seems that the general thoughts are that alcohol in spot treatments is the only time when it’s considered okay. Plus, all alcohols are not equal and that’s a whole other can of worms. So, when June comes I think it’s one to have in the ’emergency’ drawer – along with Lanolips 101 and aloe vera gel. It’s £18 and will be available HERE. It’s definitely worth a look on the Expert Advice section HERE because it’s very informative.
