I’m going to start off saying that I have never got over those sweet potato brownies. They cost an arm and a leg to make and were literally the most horrible things I’ve ever tasted – they went (with a massive, heavy thud) into the bin. However, the collaboration between Ella and Neal’s Yard is a very good fit and I’m happy to say that the ‘recipes’ are everything those wretched brownies were not. The Rose, Lime & Cucumber Moisturiser and Face Wash, are indeed ‘delicious’. They’re fresh, gorgeously light and perfectly scented for a spot-on-for-summer skin care duo.

The olfactory hit, initially, is all about the cucumber (it made me think of iced Pimms) but moves to rose being the predominent note. I just about get the lime, but really, it’s more of a soothing, brain cooling hit of rose and cucumber. I’ll run through the main ingredients. Organic Lime Essential Oil is good for skin toning, Cucumber Water soothes the skin, Acai Fruit Oil is full of antioxidants, essential fatty acids and Vitamin C, Tumeric helps with radiance, Blueberry oil is an antioxidant power house and Organic Rose Essential Oil is hydrating and balancing.

Personally, while I’m not usually a face wash fan (I like a balm or a micellar), the Neal’s Yard Remedies Deliciously Ella Face Wash is my favourite thing – it’s cool feeling with more of a lime hit than the moisturiser, freshening, gently cleansing and the perfect thing for hot faces. They’re nicely priced at £16 for the wash and £22 for the moisturiser.

While my ‘clean eating’ book went the way of the Oxfam shop, these definitely won’t – they’re just lovely. They’re launching mid-August.
