Here’s a handy product to see you through the transition between summer and winter skin care. It’s apricot kernel oil, full of fatty acids that skin loves. While in itself, apricot kernel is one of the cheapest oils you can find that is suitable for faces, this one is organic and for some that’s important. I think it’s well priced at £9.99 and useful for any number of things.
There’s always a brief phase – usually when you put the central heating on – when your skin feels drier than usual but not quite ready for really thick creams. I’m not much of a believer in needing specific seasonal products because I find my skin can have a dry phase in summer nearly as easily as it can in winter. But I do think adjusting your skin care is a good idea as and when you need it, and it can be as simple as adding in a few drops of this type of oil to your moisturiser, adding a layer before your night cream or even popping a drop into your foundation. I hate the idea that we think we have to rush out and buy a whole new set of skin care for each season when there are less expensive and more simple solutions afoot.
Apricot kernel oil is laden with skin compatible fatty acids (there are also Passion Seed, Jojoba and Rosehip oils from the same range which will also do the job) so it’s a bit of a ‘can’t go wrong’ product. You can also hydrate your nails, hair and dry patches with it, too. In texture, Natural Spa Factory Fatty Acid Hydrator Oil is a light feeling oil but gives an immediate suppleness and softness to your skin., meaning you could easily use it as a night (or day) moisturiser without anything else.
