This review seems so appropriate today when the sun is shining and there are blossoms everywhere. My Trust is an NHS skin care line – yes, really! Believe it or not, it’s 30 years since the original My Trusty came into the world. Over at the burns unit in Salisbury hospital, there wasn’t a cream to effectively treat the new skin and scarring so a couple of skincare scientists decided to make their own. When patients then left the hospital, they couldn’t find anything comparible, so My Trusty became available to buy through the hospital pharmacy. Although it’s been available in pharmacies for years, a new distribution stream is about to change everything for this brand.
Obviously, despite the sunny appearance, this has got all the serious science that you’d need – it can be used on babies from 8 weeks, mums to be or literally anyone to give skin back its suppleness from conditions such as eczema or psoriasis, as well as helping with scarring, acne and rosacea. Linoleic acid is high in moisturising properties, but low in viscosity so it won’t clog pores.
As things stand currently, all profits (at least 50%) go back to the Salisbury NHS trust, but the reason that the new distribution into Tesco and Superdrug is such a game changer for this brand is that as it grows and sells more, the wider NHS will benefit, too. It’s very reasonably priced, too. Sunflower Body Butter is £7.99, Sunflower Face & Body Oil is £7.99, Sunflower Body Lotion is £6 and the Hand Cream (the closest to the very original cream created in the Burns Unit) is £4. The name, My Trusty, was put forward and voted for by hospital staff by the way. I’m really hoping that Tesco and Superdrug are giving this brand favourable terms. You can find My Trusty HERE.
