There’s no doubt that L’Occitane has nailed it in terms of good looking products! This is absolutely beautiful and full of those micro balls that are just begging to be held and crushed one by one like bubble-wrap. As is always the way, they’re crushed as you pump. Boo.
Given that the spheres contain the oil part of this formula, when you apply it your skin it doesn’t feel oily at all. It glides effortlessly and feels silky but there’s no particular oil feeling. It’s almost like a light, water-feel gel.
As you’d imagine from the name, you use it at night when skin is most suggestible to regeneration and repair. I’ve got many questions about their statistics – 91% felt their skin looked awakened after one night of use. But that’s a very woolly term, frankly. 97% felt it looked rested and refreshed and again those are very much open to interpretation. I’m in with ‘luminous’, which 81% of volunteers felt was boosted on their skin. I mean, I don’t doubt that this serum is good but I definitely didn’t wake up luminous (although it did feel ‘active’ on my skin). Fast forward to 28 night’s use and 100% of the volunteers felt their skin looked transformed and re-energized, as well as replenished with moisture and plumped. 90% felt their skin looked younger *eye roll*. I haven’t used this for 28 nights so I can’t say one way or the other, but for me personally, I think I’d have liked to see more tangible, less vague skin markers – and for them not to use a model for a ‘youthifying’ product that looks like she should be studying for her A levels.
I can see that the brand has tried to work around the anti-ageing term – I’m all for that and who wouldn’t want luminous, energized and plumper skin at any age? I feel it may be worth adding in this extra step (before your night serums and creams or if you want to double up, you can use it in the morning too) if you feel your complexion needs perking up – especially if you go duller in autumn and winter – but I think it’s fanciful to imagine that 100% level of transformation. If you try it please, please let me know! It’s £49 HERE.
