With so many new brands popping up, too young for any meaningful history, it’s good to visit products that have stood the test of time. The story that a young French doctor, Danielle Roches, formulated a soothing, plant based cream to treat her burns patients during the second world war. A lack of medicine meant that doctors had to find alternatives, but it was to her surprise that one using the balm around the eye area of her patients that they grew long and lush lashes and fuller brows. I had a friend with an eye condition and his drops stimulated lash growth – the condition was in one eye only so he had to keep trimming to have his lash length matching!
Fast forward to now and the balm has transformed into Lipocils Expert but still retains a botanical base of St John’s Wort, apple, nettle, chestnut and hamamelis. Added are peptides, a melanin booster (to darken lashes) in the form of coleus forskholii and silk proteins. Looking at the claim of 36% longer lashes, it was done on a small test group of 30 subjects over 30 days with an average of 2.1mm growth. On lashes, that’s quite impressive! You’d certainly notice. This brand has so many fans – I’ve seen it work on others, without a doubt – so I can see why. The odd brush has its purpose – you coat the lashes with the liquid using the doe’s foot and then brush through with the brush.
