Garnier SkinActive Oil Infused Micellar Water

I’m a huge fan of micellar waters – I fairly consistently turn to Bioderma and B at Superdrug, but also have almost finished a bottle of Garnier regular micellar (pink lid). I know I’ve been featuring some very expensive cleansers of late so I’m really happy to find this new micellar at a more friendly £5.99.

Garnier SkinActive Oil Infused Micellar Water is rather similar to the Erborian cleansing water, Herbal Energy Cleanser, in that it leaves a ‘film’ behind on the skin. I think if you love your skin to ‘squeak’ after cleansing, this isn’t for you, but if you prefer to leave some pliability in your skin, then it is. It’s not doing less of a cleanse – in fact, this is a power cleanse and also hoovers off waterproof make up – but you will be left with a residue feel. At the top of the bottle you can see the extra oil, which you need to shake in yourself to make it a water, but I found the make-up removal results very, very impressive. In fact, I’d say this is very handy as a pre-balm cleanse to remove all your make up before cleaning your skin.

It does contain alcohol as well as argan oil, and we could not in a million years say this is any kind of a natural product but my goodness! It does remove every single last trace of make up! You can find it HERE.

I like micellars but I’ve never found one, even Bioderma, which removes mascara & eyeliner properly. I usually end up with black all over my lid & below, because the pigment “spreads” instead of being removed! So I use an oily m/u remover for my eye makeup, and micellar for the rest of my face – then I cleanse. If this one works then I’ll be very pleased!

This absolutely does, but the payback is a less ‘fresh’ feeling cleanse.

  2. I love the idea of this and its great to see a cheaper brand coming out with new skincare ideas

This sounds very interesting. As a fan of long lasting make up I have found a number of these micellar waters disappointing / poor for make up removal. The price is very right too! I think it’s a purchase for me. Happy Wednesday xx

Jane, can you recommend a more natural brand of micellar water (which isn’t ridiculously priced…!!) as I’m always keen to look at less chemically-loaded products whenever possible. Thanks!

I have their micellar oil infused wipes. Yes, you heard me right…wipes. I needed something while I was away for the weekend when my travel bottle of cleanser broke. While I wouldn’t use them everyday, I was impressed enough to pick up a second package of them. When I’m through most of the two bottles of Garnier Micellar Water, I will have a look at this one.

I use Garnier wipes for exactly the same thing.. they’re really soft and great for a quick cleanse on an overnighter.

This is interesting; I’ll try it once it makes its way to the States. I tried the version with the pink lid and it broke me out immediately. I gave it to a friend who does not have sensitive skin. I had better luck with the blue-capped version, which removes every trace of makeup, including very heavy eye makeup. I used Lisa Eldridge’s eye makeup removal method and it worked like a dream! That said, I also found the blue-capped Garnier to be a bit harsh, and I would never use it on a daily basis for anything other than eye makeup removal. For that, it’s brilliant. My skin type: dry, sensitive, and dehydrated. Yes, I won the genetic lottery. 🙂

I bought this a week or so ago as soon as I see it as although I love the pink lidded version I liked the idea of this – the water and oil together. I really like it for evening as I don’t mind the slight film it leaves but for mornings I revert back to the pink. Plus is this just me but I find with any bi-phase type product, that I shake shake it but by the time I then unclip the lid etc that it’s almost reverted back to the oil on top again?! Does that even make any sense?!

  10. I’ve been meaning to pick this up because I’ve been hearing so many great things about it. I love that this will remove makeup! For this great price, I’ll buy it!

  11. I love Garnier Micellar Water (with the pink lid), too, but this new Oil Infused Micellar Water sounds great. Here in Italy I haven’t seen it in any drugstore yet, but I hope they will start selling it soon.

  12. I am currently using the Clinque eye makeup remover which I love but I really want to give this a go to see how it compares! May save me some money in the long run!

FYI Boots are doing this 2 for £7 at the moment, which is an absolute bargain! Emma x

  14. I use the regular Garnier Micellar water as my pre-cleanse makeup remover. No issues to report – it removes all my makeup with no irritation. I use Almay Eye Makeup Remover Pads for my eye area, although the garnier micellar water removes eye makeup well on its own.
