[unpaid/sample] If you’re in the mood for a rich and luxurious skin cream that’s not mainstream, Fuarain Super Active might well have you at hello. It’s a blend of minerals, herbs and botanicals bound together to give a beautifully silky and effective moisturiser.

Fuarain Super Active Moisture Cream

Hailing from Scotland and using mineral water from Deeside, it uses 97% naturally derived ingredients. I love the fact that it’s a side-arm of the Deeside Natural Mineral Water Company – think of Vichy or Avene and how popular they are. There is clearly something in the power of minerals. Deeside Mineral Water comes from within the Cairngorms (somewhere near Balmoral, apparently) and unlike other mineral water brands (I’m on a learning curve here because I did not know this) they don’t use boreholes to pump out more water, instead relying on what the spring gives naturally.

Fuarain Super Active Moisture Cream

I’ve tested this at surface level only – but gosh, if you have dry skin or just ‘winter’ skin in general at the moment, it’s immediate relief that lasts the day through. Lovely. Extracts of Horsetail are anti-inflammatory and antioxidant and have been used traditionally to help heal wounds and rashes. Heather extract is also anti-inflammatory and soothing. There’s no fragrance in the formula so if scent is a trigger for your skin, you won’t find it here. The thing about this product is that it’s very much a product of its environment – the company supports The Woodland Trust and Keep Scotland Beautiful so that nature can keep on giving. This feels like a thoroughly wholesome cream on all fronts although I’d like to see the other ingredients – shea, sweet almond, sunflower and cocoa seed butter a bit more prominently displayed on their site. It was difficult to get a grip on the body of the formula without having to look quite hard. I think they also need some names and faces behind this – it feels personal, community and artisan, so let’s at least know who created it.

I think it’s at the top end price-wise at £48 for 60ml HERE but you really don’t need to slather it on to get the benefits. This is their first product and I’m looking forward to seeing more, as well as smaller try-me size for metaphorical toe-dipping.
