Clinique Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam

It is not so long ago that foams were considered the very devil in skin cleansing. Some of them still are and should be greatly avoided for their ability to make your skin feel as though it hasn’t seen moisture in a month. But, the newer breeds of foam leave behind an emolient residue so you don’t get that crispy skin thing. They feel whippy soft and lathery on the complexion.

I’ll say straight away that the Clinique Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam isn’t the softest of the new breeds (Erborian takes that one) but still, we are talking only fractions of softness here. What’s interesting about the Clinique version is that they’ve taken out sulfates completely and also use a coconut derived phosopolipid complex which is why it doesn’t feel like it’s going to strip your skin. There’s also salicylic acid and Capryloyl Glycine, both of which purify and work against excess sebum – so it’s clear that this foam is going to be more for you if you have oil prone skin. However, it is indicated for very dry skin to dry combination and you don’t see many products for dry combination as it’s a difficult category to cater for. Happily, there is some hyaluronic acid in there which always makes skin feel soft and supple, so all in all, I think we’re looking at a great product for an underserved category. Time will tell whether it’s ticking all the boxes for the dry combinations – my skin isn’t either, so I can’t give a full low down on efficacy. I’ll look forward to hearing your thoughts when it launches in May. It’s £18.

    Good post
I am always looking for a good cleanser, my dry skin sometimes has rough patches, my doc gave me dermarol, it does leave an emolient residue, I don’t like it at all.

I tried so many cleansers and moisturisers but not found a good one yet. Especially for face.
