Clarins Super Restorative Treatment Essence

I’ve had the Clarins Super Restorative Treatment Essence waiting to be tried out for quite a while now and clearly, I should not have waited because it’s all sold out at Clarins! I was an early adopter of essences, and while I don’t always use them, I do like them and if I do a home facial, I’ll always incorporate them, as well as when I remember, day to day. Weirdly, while I was uploading pictures for this post, I got an email flagging up the latest Clarins offer, which is too good not to tell you about but I’m trying to be very mindful of not doing ‘salesy’ posts. But – it does seem like a very good offer with 9 samples (and Clarins samples are quite generous) and a free full size Shimmering Oil with orders over £90 til 30th October. And, it’s kind of that time of the year when whether you want to think Christmas or not, peripherally at least, it’s *there*! Those samples have to be some kind of deserved reward for your gifting! So, go HERE to the home page to see the offer in full. Clarins does have a strong gifting game this year.

So, back to the Treatment Essence, £45. As a reminder, the point of an essence is to prepare the skin for what’s to come next, such as moisturiser or facial oil. A good essence will make your skin feel immediately softer while adding an extra, fine layer of moisture – you could think of them as a watery serum I suppose. The Clarins version is top of the range with hibiscus flower to act as an exfoliator (similar to a mild fruit acid) which is where the softening element comes in.

The texture is like a thick water – this one is thicker than many I’ve used – and you can multi task it for a more intensive treatment by pulling cotton pad layers apart, soaking the thinner layers with essence and leaving them on your face while you have a bath. If you try to soak a full cotton pad you’ll just end up using your essence all up too quickly. I really like this one – it’s close to the very premium Korean essences I’ve tried and if you fancy trying an essence, I’d definitely recommend it. Luckily, John Lewis has it HERE.
