Bowe Organics Get Glowing Starter Kit

[unpaid/sample] To me, this complete masking set is just a perfect gift for a beauty fan (including one’s self obviously!). The Bowe Organics Get Glowing Starter Kit is perfectly and thoughtfully arranged to contain a bamboo spoon, two organic, non bleached muslin cloths, a mask applicator brush and a beautiful hand painted ceramic bowl to mix up the mask powder in.

There’s a sturdy (card) box to keep everything together and it just has a feeling of being rather special. I’ve always been more of a fan of the ready-made face mask but – maybe it’s getting older – I’m much more prepared to put a bit of time and effort into something as mindful as this than I used to be.

The components of the mask powder are mineral rich lava clay, kaolin, green clay, siberian ginseng and ground chamomile powder. Mix it with warm water and work it with the spoon until it’s smooth and ready to go onto your clean skin. You’ll need one scoop of powder and three or four scoops of water (I don’t think I used enough water first time around… because I didn’t read the instructions.. but you can add more as you go along if it’s looking a bit doughy). I left the mix on for about ten minutes before removing with the muslin cloth (not my favourite type of cloth at all but it did the job perfectly).

I can be a bit reactive to clay masks but that wasn’t the case here – you’re advised not to let it dry completely so have a spritz handy – and contrary to expectations, this isn’t a mask that draws oil from your skin so you won’t end up feeling dry. Instead, I found I had fresh feeling and very clean skin that looked glowing and ‘pepped’ up. I followed the mask with REN Evercalm Barrier Support Elixir which I often use after any mask I haven’t tried before and was very happy with the result. I would say I had an initial slight pinkness to my face which is probably the kaolin which gets circulation moving but it faded fast. The kit is £30 HERE. The entire set is plastic free and designed for use over and over again and mask powder is £17 for a refill. The Bowe Organics Get Glowing Starter Kit feels like a treat and there’s nothing like a ritual to create some meaning to me-time. It didn’t feel faffy and I even enjoyed washing the utensils and putting everything back in the box.

Very similar to May Lindstrom’s The Clean Dirt.

Oh interesting – the price must be different though? This feels good value to me.
