Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Eye Base

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Although on the whole I am not a believer in eye creams and rarely use them (I just can’t fall for the myth that eye skin is so very different to other facial skin) I am a bit seduced by the fact that this new launch from Bobbi Brown doubles as a primer. It puts it into a different category because if you like either primers or eye creams why wouldn’t you have something that does both?

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Eye Base

I’ve tried this over a few days only so I don’t have any longer term benefits to report, but in terms of comfort and hydration I can’t fault it. It’s a fairly standard eye cream formula – hyaluronic acid, caffeine, vitamin B – but put together nicely so you feel you’re getting something rich but not greasy – in the same way its sister product, Vitamin Enriched Face Base, gives that feel to your complexion.

The priming aspect is interesting because it feels like it’s not going to add longevity to any eye make up because of the richness, but I feel it did. It’s not on a par with Urban Decay Primer Potion (which is the best there is, in my view) but it did the job especially around smoothing the lid for a more seamless shadow or concealer application. It’s quite satisfying to have something you can use all the way around the eye from the underneath to lid. It’s £34 HERE, non affiliate HERE, and a little goes a long way.

I’ve been looking at this, and seriously considering both it and the face base. (Everything has changed now BB puts a full ingredients list on the website!)
I had a sample pot of the face one once, and was very much impressed; lovely to use and a great performer.

About eye creams in general: I find it worthwhile using a separate product because my face creams etc all, without exception, migrate many hours later into my eyes, resulting in streaming peepers all day, impossible to shift. Capillary action I guess, even though my eye area isn’t all that lined even now. A very fine cream that stays put is my own ideal. I’ll be keen to see does this product have that quality.

I can’t say it wandered on me – but we’re all different 🙂

Yes indeed (and your eyes always look fresh anyway, so you kind of answer the dilemmas re separate creams visually!)
Eye creams are a field of sheer bonkers science/claims, really. For every delightful light serum (Aurelia, say) I’ve a disastrous heavyweight unguent (Liz Earle….why?) I’m sensible and clearheaded by now about my other skincare requirements and products, but eye creams turn me into a madwoman who’ll believe and try anything.

We’ve all got our beauty weakness – lip balm for me! Sometimes I have to speak to myself about spending £52 on a pot of Sisley but oh, it’s so good!

The Bobbi Brown face base is one I always go back to, I love the smell. Urban decay eye primer I agree is excellent I’ve used it for years. Then Wayne Goss reviewed an eye primer called P. Louise that I’d never heard of. I’m using that now. You only need the teeniest bit. The one that they sent Wayne was huge obviously great for make up artists. Its great smooths the skin on the eyelid. I rarely wear eyeshadows but when I do I just pat on Trinnys shade Virtue a bit of eyeliner and I’m good to go.

Oh thanks for that recommendation Suzy x

I’ve heard good things about the P. Louise primer also that Suzy recommended – some French blogger swear by it. Another (facial) primer I’ve heard raves about is Origins Willowherb Mousse Primer

    – to be honest I’ve tried it and not seen a huge difference to my oily skin, but it does have a nice cooling effect and melty texture.

Good to know, thanks Melissa 🙂

I bought this and I love it. I’ve never ever used up a whole eye cream before but I have today. I just love the fact that it just kept the skin around my eyes so hydrated. It’s so comforting. Waiting for my next pot to arrive!
