OPI ColorPaints

The OPI ColorPaints operate in a similar way to Marian Newman’s Transformations range for MAC in that they you can change and customise your nail look through a series of top coats. As I understand it, OPI ColorPaints use a chromatic silver base to uplight layers of colour – don’t think single strokes, think swirls or drops or stripes. According to OPI ambassador Danny Phung, even different brush pressures can create individual looks. You use the silver chrome shade first and then layer the other colours over the top.

Until I have my hands on it, I don’t think I’m going to ‘get’ exactly the effect – there are some amazing pictures that show you what the potential of OPI ColorPaints are HERE but as yet there aren’t many swatches from nail blogs where they’ve used them to go really wild with creating the chromatic changes, although there is one promo shot HERE that gives the best idea. Whether you can replicate that at home is another matter altogether!

I don’t know when the UK launch is but I’ll update when I find out.

  1. I’m intrigued, but sceptical how well you could replicate that second effect at home! And I have to admit, I thought all the colours looked much nicer without the silver metallic base. Interested to see more though!

Wow what an interesting concept, hopefully it’s released in South Africa this year still 😉 we tend to be a bit behind on trends.
