Imagine yourself at the creative table wondering how the heck to make nail polish bottles interesting. There are so many nail polishes in the world that looking physically different is essential if anyone is going to notice you in the crowd. Well, I guess quilty looking bottles is different – and rather nice to hold as well; there is a tactile quality to these that I really like. It’s the brand new L’Oreal Paris Color Riche L’Huile Nail Varnish range – 22 colours of an oil infused formula.

Oil in nail polish shouldn’t work – in fact, if your nails are the least bit oily before you put polish on, it won’t go on properly or stay well. As far as I can tell, the reason for the oil to be there is to add shine and more colour depth, and the shades definitely do have both those things. Unless you’re really a nail geek, I’m not sure you’d notice this day to day, just like I didn’t notice that they’re rose scented.

What I did notice though is how easy it is to apply. The brush is a fat style that really hugs the nail so one sweep gives whole nail colour without any fuss. I know lots of nail artists don’t like the fat brush but for me it’s perfect and makes the process much easier than lots of precision strokes.

I’m wearing Greige Amoreux – a taupe/grey shade – but it’s going to take me a while to get through these colours.
