Imagine yourself at the creative table wondering how the heck to make nail polish bottles interesting. There are so many nail polishes in the world that looking physically different is essential if anyone is going to notice you in the crowd. Well, I guess quilty looking bottles is different – and rather nice to hold as well; there is a tactile quality to these that I really like. It’s the brand new L’Oreal Paris Color Riche L’Huile Nail Varnish range – 22 colours of an oil infused formula.

Oil in nail polish shouldn’t work – in fact, if your nails are the least bit oily before you put polish on, it won’t go on properly or stay well. As far as I can tell, the reason for the oil to be there is to add shine and more colour depth, and the shades definitely do have both those things. Unless you’re really a nail geek, I’m not sure you’d notice this day to day, just like I didn’t notice that they’re rose scented.

What I did notice though is how easy it is to apply. The brush is a fat style that really hugs the nail so one sweep gives whole nail colour without any fuss. I know lots of nail artists don’t like the fat brush but for me it’s perfect and makes the process much easier than lots of precision strokes.

I’m wearing Greige Amoreux – a taupe/grey shade – but it’s going to take me a while to get through these colours.

So far so good – absolutely nothing to complain about here, especially at £4.99 (and on a 3 for 2) HERE.

I saw the new packaging I a display in Superdrug recently and thought it looked really nice – the fact that I did actually notice them was purely down to the bottle design as it’s hard to spot anything on those huge displays! Weirdly my first thought was they reminded me of hand grenades!!!!!:)
That was my first thought too!
That’s such nice packaging. The range of colours look really good too, perfect for Spring.

Woohoo! Thanks for posting a review on this <3
Hi Jane,
Just a quick note to say that I am so happy to be back on the newsletter bandwagon. If you recall I suddenly stopped getting your emails a few weeks ago. And couldn’t figure out the problem. You so kindly wrote back…and I got in touch with the folks at Feedblitz. They helped out and so gladI’m back to receiving your great reviews! So I am one happy reader from Canada. Great service and lovely people at Feedblitz!
I do recall.. thankfully we should be back on track and thank you so much for your patience xx
I know it’s Srinng but, no black, no deal. Ah, well.
Jane, I am new to London, and had been looking for a make-up and beauty blog that really got into the nitty gritty about brands and stores that are totally new to me, and was also filled with honest and straightforward reviews. I am happy to have found you! There’s a great big world of make-up and skin care beyond Sephora and Ulta (though I really miss them), and you’re helping me to find it. Thanks!
Thank you so much..that’s a great compliment x
Quilty! Is that what they were going for? I love the bottles but I couldn’t stop myself thinking “hand grenade” every time I look at them. I thought they might be going for a “your beauty arsenal” thing 😀
My mum is going to be thrilled about the fat brushes. She has every colour from a Bourjois range that had fat brushes!
I also got a hand grenade vibe. Is it silly to say that it is taking a while to get used to these new bottles because the old ones were so tiny and I am a sucker for teeny tiny make up things?
