Although I do love an Essie polish for reliable and even colour, I’m not exactly blown away by the Essie Retro Revival collection. But, it’s interesting in that it’s a celebration of 35 years of Essie (who knew?!) with a re-launch of some of their best loved shades.
They’re all archive shades that have been best-sellers over the years although I cannot believe that For The Twill of It isn’t there – a duochrome that was a big favourite of mine (metallic greeny/red).
I haven’t swatched Birthday Suit becaue it just doesn’t show up (it’s a barely there nude). So from top and heading around we have: Bikini With A Martini (a pearly, peachy-pink shade and the only one I couldn’t get an even finish on after two coats), Sequin Sash (a silver sparkle shot beige/nude), Life Of The Party (bronzed red), Cabana Boy (pale pearly grey) and Starry Starry Night.
Starry Starry Night is from 1997, Life of The Party, 2002, Bikini with a Martini, 2006, Sequin Sash, 2005, Birthday Suit, 1981 and Cabana Boy, 2005.
They’re £7.99 each and in Superdrug and Boots.

Oh, I bloody LOVE The Twill Of It (I still have it knocking around, actually), and Cashmere Bathrobe from the same year. I’m a bit of a grey/dark neutrals girl when it comes to polishes and these are a bit… underwhelming, tbh.
Wow. For The Twill Of It was like their biggest hit! Fancy leaving it out! D:
For the twill of it isn’t in this collection because it’s not discontinued, you can still buy it from nail supply places, online and I’ve seen it in boots lately too. Sure it’s an open stock colour!
Ahhh! That makes sense.
I want to try Starry Starry Night and I can’t find it anywhere!! The hunt continues. All these shades look beautiful!

I nearly picked up Cabana Boy on a whim but something told me to seek out reviews before I splurge. Turns out the reviews aren’t so sparkling! I so wish the Essie concession stands in Boots offered a wider range of the colours that exist elsewhere, I sometimes go into Boots determined to pick up a new Essie polish but become a little uninspired by the shade range as I’ve seen them all before, and the limited edition colours are often sold out. I MUST pick up Angora Cardi next time Essie is on offer though!
