Urban Decay Afterglow Highlighter

There are plenty of new launches heading our way from Urban Decay but the one I think will cause a major stir is Urban Decay Afterglow Highlighter. These are epic highlighters not least because they’re not dust that falls off your face, but a creamy powder version that’s soft and gleamy.

I’ve got such a disappointingly dull day to show you these on when they really do need the sun, but I’ve swatched under my lights so you can see how glinting they really are. Urban Decay Afterglow Highlighter is £19 – comparatively low put against products like Hourglass and yet easily beats it on quality and textures.

Because they’re in a seamless ‘glow’ formula, you don’t find big chunks of glitter – just a fusion of light catchy pigments. The bottom shade in the swatch is Sin, a white gold shade, next is Aura (all cool toned girls who can’t find a highlighter to fit their tone can start rejoicing right now with this pearly pink) and finally Fireball, a gilt hit peach.

And in the same order under light. Having seen about a gazillion highlighters, these are easily amongst the very best, and it’s a high recommend from me. They’re HERE. I’m looking at them now thinking that a wash over summer lids would also be absolutely beautiful.

Jane, I’ve always thought illuminating/highlighting products were for young skin, not for over 50s; I tried a couple a while ago & they just made me look shiny (or even sparkly) & fake………if you have tried any which you could recommend for older skins I’d be interested to know about them…. Thanks!

Well, I don’t think age should be any indicator in what you can and can’t wear – it’s more about how you use it. Try to opt for sheen rather than sparkle, and use just a tiny amount on the top of the cheek bones: it’s really about a nuance of light rather than a full on sun beam so you’d go base, blush, then a tiny sweep of highlighter. It’s not really my preference for a day look and I certainly don’t do that big burnished highlighter look but it’s pretty to catch light on your face regardless of age. You can also use them as a wash of sheen onto lids with just a bit of mascara or something for a summer day, low key eye.
