Tony Moly Petite Bunny Gloss Balms

Hate to be the enabler here, but a whole pile of Tony Moly has just launched onto Selfridges – looks like they’re attempting to own the Tony Moly space in the UK (I am sure there are more brands to come). But, the products that won me over to the Tony Moly brand are these Tony Moly Petite Bunny Gloss Balms – really, they’re testament to what a pair of bunny ears on a gloss can do to alter your perception of what is quite an ordinary (but very decent) product.

I’m so happy to see ‘kawaii’ make-up having a real presence in the UK – while Japan and Korea are famed for their skin care, there are some beautiful make-up brands too. The thing to know is that just because something looks ‘cute’ doesn’t mean it isn’t a very good product inside. That’s the difference between cultures: cute and quirky doesn’t mean cheap and cheerful. I did find a cream called ‘Donkey Steam’ in TK Maxx the other day – very cute donkey but no! Bunnies, yes.

Anyway, they’re £8 each and if you’re already organised and keeping an eye out for stocking fillers, these are spot on. They’re HERE (already selling out).

This packaging is so cute. Perfect for girls at school age.

  2. So fun – my nieces would love these!

  3. £8! They’re having a laugh. I get these for about £3 from BeautynetKorea. The colour payoff isn’t great, but they all have a nice fruity fragrance and the best bet is how the bunnies all have a different facial expression. The grumpy one on the end is my favourite. The worst bit is that they don’t last long, but you can never bring yourself to chuck them in the bin because then they would be sad.

lol.. they’re so cute.. I have a little peach gloss with a stalk and eyes.. the stuff inside is rank now and I CANNNNNOTTTTT throw it out!

    2. At £4-£5 I could understand the importing mark up but £8 is a lot. They are cute and definitely good stocking presents but they do not perform as an £8 balm. At £3 from other places they are a sweet little buy for minimal balmy colour. I would have bought them from Selfridges to encourage more Korean beauty buying over here if they were a bit lower in price.

  4. £8 is astronomical, especially for Tony Moly which is very much a cheaper Korean brand. Even TK Maxx are selling Etude House for twice the Korean sellers’ prices, although their prices for It’s Skin and Berrisom are not too bad.

Taiwanese skincare and makeup is great too – My Beauty Diary and My Scheming sheet masks are wonderful, and you can find them in Chinatown in London for about the same as on ebay (they come in multipacks only though wherever you buy them). I highly recommend My Beauty Diary Hylauronic Acid and Black Pearl masks.

Hi Jane! I was wondering why the Jefferey Star review was removed- went to re-read the post today and couldn’t find it? x

Because some readers found it offensive – or, find him offensive – so I’ve listened to their views and removed it. x
