Lip powders have been around for a couple of years but mostly they’ve stayed under the K Beauty umbrella so haven’t been very widely available. I bought a brand called RiRe (blogged HERE) in 2016 to try out the technology and although I loved the novelty, I didn’t end up using it much. The way that lip powders word is to surround liquid with powder to create microspheres of colour that only transform from powder to liquid when they make contact with the skin.
It’s a remarkable technology if you haven’t seen or used it before – really quite exciting that a powder can become a cooling, intensely pigmented liquid. The wands are very narrow with flexibility so it’s really easy to apply and I think you have to give some recognition to the packaging that is so well executed that not one stray powder particle went astray while I was testing. I had to really knock the wands to get the powder to show you in the picture above. So, while I don’t recommend using it while wearing your very best white silk shirt just in case, I was impressed with the stability of what must be quite a difficult packaging challenge.
There are four shades exclusive to FeelUnique and they all have a powerful amount of pigment. The finish is an absolute flat matte with an almost weightless feel although there is a big thrill as it goes on the lip and feels cold as all the encapsulated fluid escapes! You won’t feel this as runny or watery at all. In the safety of my office, I’m wearing Red Carpet which is just lovely – a vivid, orange hit red that’s perfect for my skin tone and it’s seen me safely with no transfer or face through a coffee and a diet Coke.
In the swatch, it’s Red Carpet, Chill Wine, Pink Kiss and Nude Flirt. They’re all £25 HERE.
