The By Terry Hyaluronic Sheer Rouge lipsticks are every kind of perfect for colour you don’t even have to think about. They’re sheer washes of colour but there is enough pigment that they show up nicely on the lip, but not so much that they turn into a statement. I like them because they’re like a low sheen gloss or balm in feel but have none of the associated stickiness. So they feel like lipstick, look like balm.

The shades I have here are Rose Boom Boom and Zest Shot; both with enough summer nuance to pretty up the lips by the pool. These have the ‘fill and plump’ technology but I can’t really say that my lips look filled or plumped particularly but sheen is always flattering and light bouncy so just on that basis, it’s a look I really like.

If there is any downside, it’s that they do have a bit of a back taste – a kind of soapy thing going on – and actually the scent reminds me of old-style Estee Lauder lippies for some reason. There are three new shades for 2016 in an existing line up of 17 – all have a UV defense element. These just seem like the ultimate no hassle, chuck in your beach bag, off duty but on point lippies. They’re £27 HERE.

  1. Super pretty summery shades, I do tend to go for the sheerer lipsticks. Great review, thanks for sharing x

  2. Yes! This would be my exact review. I have actually stopped wearing mine because it tastes so distracting. Not horrible but not nice and I simply cannot get used to it. Such a shame because texture and colour and pigment density all bang on.
