I’m having a bit of a love-in with Shiseido at the moment. If you love a nude lip and a matte finish, you’re going to like these – a lot. The first shade is Rose Syrup, only available on the Shiseido UK site in a classic nude but with a hit of rose behind it. The second shade, Curious Cassis, is a deep wine/raisin shade that’s dark but not, somehow, vampy.

It feels like a classic lipstick when you first apply – it’s light on the lip but lays down a big pigment and sits comfortably. After a moment or two, I couldn’t feel it at all. I found it lasted me easily the morning (and a cup of tea) but haven’t put it to the food test. The packaging has the magnetic click which is always satisfying and for a matte formula, it was kind to my lips by not sapping all the moisture. They’re £23 which isn’t, these days, the top end for a lipstick, but there is something rather luxurious about them that feels like you’re not over-paying.
