[productsample] If you like a matte finish on your skin that also offers some UV protection and also has a picture of a cat etched into it, your luck is very much in!

Paul & Joe Matte Pressed Powder

More effective protection comes from even dispersal – this product uses hybrid UV cut powder that evenly coats flat powder particles which in turn spread easily over the skin. I’ve read some of the techy stuff about UV cut powders and usually they’re using a liposome structure to get this level of smoothness that in turn covers the skin well.

You might remember this design from last year’s collection (a beautiful soap was one of the products I have been neither able to use nor part with – I still need to look at it more) – it’s Sophie’s cat, Gypsy. The compact comes with a silky drawstring bag of the same design – not necessary but nice to have.

It’s a ‘universal’ translucent colour which in theory should suit all tones, but I haven’t been able to test on deep toned skin. There’s a champagne pearlescence to give a light-hit look to skin but I found it to be almost imperceptible – which is good or bad, depending. In terms of picking up oil or sweat, there’s a porous powder in the mix with rosemary extract. It’s extremely silky – I don’t like powders on my skin so this isn’t a product for me and I didn’t find that it covered pores. Otherwise though, if powders are for you, you’ll get SPF25 for £28 worth of gorgeous cat compact! It’s £28 and hasn’t launched yet…. I think it’s May.
