No1 DE CHANEL Red Camellia Revitalizing Foundation

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I’ve at last got around to testing and reviewing No1 DE CHANEL Red Camellia Revitalizing Foundation  Foundation and I will say up front that there are no surprises here. I love it. It feels as natural on my skin as all CHANEL foundations do and I find it a very easy wear.

My shade is BD40 but I also have BD41 to show. It’s a warm beige shade that initially presents as dewy although that glow settles down as skin absorbs the hydrating ingredients. A big draw for this product is that it focuses on anti-pollution and protecting the skin so if you’re a city dweller, you might want to consider it.

No1 DE CHANEL Red Camellia Revitalizing Foundation

With 94% natural ingredients (76% of which are camellia derived), including the CHANEL signature red camellia extract, it still retains that creaminess in texture that CHANEL foundations tend to have. You can use a moisturiser underneath – in fact, if you have dry skin, I would recommend that you use a serum or moisturiser because despite it’s dewy start, I feel that it’s best for oily-normal skin types. It’s an easy wear – at home as an every day base or an occasional treat. I think there is enough pigment to give my skin a soft warmth but not so much that I feel overly made-up.

To the lipstick! It’s the Rouge Allure L’Extrait formula which is shiny and lightweight and it’s the same shade that Kirsten Stewart recently wore in a look created by Jillian Dempsey. I’m having a hopeful moment with nudes and trying several to see what I can and can’t wear – I liked the look of this shade as one that could be understated but still present.

Sadly, it doesn’t make me look like Kirsten Stewart but I really think I like it.

It’s shade 812 Beige Brut HERE, £46 but £34 if you only need the refill, and the lip pencil which I swore I didn’t need but actually might be making me a true covert with its buttery softness and gentle, non-sharp outlining is 158 Rose Naturel HERE. Actually, the lip pencils are almost completely sold out – everywhere – so I’ve listed Boots for the lipstick (in case you have points) and CHANEL who are the only ones with stock of the pencil.

CHANEL Swatches

In the swatch from bottom to top is Beige Brut Lipstick, Rose Naturel Lip Pencil, No1 DE CHANEL Foundation in BD40 (my shade) and BD41. The foundation is £55 HERE (Boots again). I should also flag up that the Les Beiges Water Fresh Tint is in stock and as soon as the sun shows its face properly, it probably won’t be! It’s HERE.

What is it about Chanel? I’ve developed such a habit (especially with les Beiges) and I wish more of their foundations would have SPF in them but I still go back for more 🙂
The lipcolour is lovely on you Jane but I think I’m with Team Gucci. Happy Easter to you and everyone at BBB towers and readers x

Hi, can i ask how does this compare to the essence de teint foundation ? I splurged last year but i am still tempted by the revitalizing foundation. Thanks!

Well, I think the formula is revitalizing but it’s not necessarily something that shows immediately on the face. I think the theory is that it works over time and it’s much lighter in effect than essence (which I also love). It won’t give you the same coverage level.
