I have been waiting for this! As a bit of a newbie to MAC foundations, I’ve only recently discovered how brilliant Pro Longwear Waterproof is – if you love a mid to high coverage that makes your skin look utterly flawless, that’s the one, I’m enjoying discovering more coverage options. MAC Studio Waterweight is similar in texture to Dior Air or bareMinerals bareSkin foundation – it’s that very light feeling coverage that somehow manages to give an element of prefecting with SPF30 but still lets your own skin look ‘real’ and not terribly covered. But, the difference is that this is a gel-serum consistency so not quite as ‘wet’ as the other two.
I have only the tiniest pot and it’s actually been blended a bit on the warm side for me, but I did have the product applied in store and it’s virtually my perfect base. Like both the other brand foundations that I mentioned, it’s best applied with a brush so you can really buff it over the skin. The finish is a matte-sheen.. (so less sheen than matte but not quite fully matte!) and it has a blur element, but I’d like to experiment more with my shade before I can really say how decent that is. The wear lasted several hours on me.
I think if you already love MAC bases, this is going to really be an asset in your kit – if you haven’t discovered MAC bases yet, then I would genuinely suggest this is a good place to start for absolutely any age skin. It’s launching in September for £25.50.
