I’ll confess that I’m obsessed with MAC Eye Glosses even though I have never actually worn one out of the house. The thing about them is that they really do feel like lipgloss on your lids (you can of course wear them on your lips) which isn’t the most comfortable of feelings.
But I love the idea of them – the amplification of a look, I suppose; the impossibility of glossy lids made real. If you can bear the stickiness of them, it really is a statement look – I can’t even think of a time, other than on a catwalk, that I’ve seen someone with gleaming, slick lids. You could very easily wear MAC Money-Honey Eye Gloss as just a sheer wash – you don’t actually need to do the heavy lid gloss thing; it could merely be a swipe of gold shimmer to accentuate whatever else you’re wearing (although I’d need to be sure that it didn’t just wipe off everything I’d put on previously – maybe a gentle dab is more advisable than an actual swipe!) or better still, a sheen on a bare lid.
The MAC makeup artists always have Eye Gloss at the ready in their kit bags, so they’re clearly working for catwalk and editorial – maybe I should just try and style it out and hope nobody suggests my lids are little oily.
Anyway, MAC Money-Honey Eye Gloss is launching in September as part of Haute Dogs if you can brave it.

I thought that I was the only one that tried out more daring looks at home and then went for the neutral look outdoors! Love that golden look!
I was obsessed with the clear Calvin Klein Eye Gloss about 10/15 years ago. For a long time I was on the look out for something similar but that time has passed – I fear an eye gloss will now just stick my top and bottom eyelids together 🙁
It looks like a really gorgeous shade! I don’t think I’ll be brave enough to wear it out though x

Ooooo can’t wait to get my hands on that Mac Honey eye gloss! I always loved the thought of glossy eyelids! X
This looks amazing, but I just find it hard to imagine a situation where I would wear it!

A Mary Quant eyegloss from my mum’s palette was my first go at playing with makeup, circa 1976. Don’t think I need to do it again, but what a gorgeous swatch.
For the semi brave who want to experiment just practise with eight hour cream, I have been using Vaseline, 8 hour for years and have tried lip glosses etc… It is hard to use for obvious reasons.
I would like to know what is different composition wise in the Mac eye gloss ? Any idea if they have some kind of trick to keep the gloss for folding in lids etc…
I’ve got the cinderella one-and I just can’t get on with it. Looks great for about an hour before it seeps into my socket and becomes a sticky mess 🙁
Something I would use for editorial/fashion shoots yes, but I’ve never had a client ask for this look

In a world where these don’t collect in my crease, I would wear it! But facts are facts and they look gross on me fast. I’m still disappointed that my Tom Ford (for Estée Lauder?) eye gloss looked disgusting.
I think these give a very Trish Goff eye, (yes, I’m that old) which I love. I think I’m going to buy one — just to see.
I’m new to your blog, Jane, having just discovered you through the terrific videos you did with Sali Hughes. I enjoying your writing and I very much appreciate your forthright manner.
thank you so much!
