[productsample/affiliatelink/eventattendance] I’m really keen on product presentation – things that go the extra mile to look exciting and different. The downside to this preference is that I have so many make up items that I literally cannot touch or use because I don’t want to spoil the effect. Chanel used to do limited edition, raised pattern palettes (thinking of the pearls immediately) as did Dior (the Rene Gruau palette in particular) and they’re in a box in pristine condition as a beloved collection. MAC has come close with their raised stars that are liberally scattered across their Starring You Holiday 2019 collection.
The sets are thoughtful and there is something for most budgets (£12.50 for a starry black kohl), but beyond that, they’ve got a spectacular celestial theme that’s evocative and precise. The two shadows above are from the Starry Eyed Kit, £49, that also contains a mascara a liquid liner.
Everything is packed into a shimmery make up bag.
My absolute favourites from the gift selection are the metallic pencil case style bags called the Starlit Lip Bags containing three lip products at £39. There are three colours – the lilac above containing plums, a gold version containing neutrals and a checked version containing reds. Each one contains a lipstick, a gloss and a lip liner.
These are the swatches from the Plum set.
Another favourite is the bag containing three mini MAC lipsticks. Called The Sprinkle of Shine Kit, it’s £29.
Shades are A Star Walks Into A Bar (Bright fuchsia), Ruby Woo (Very matte vivid blue red), Cosmic Comic (Dusty rose) and there is a neutral version.
These are just a fraction of what the brand has as far as Christmas offerings go – I’m preferring the smaller, less pricey sets because they’re just as impactful in their way and we’ve all got a lot of lipstick! But, it’s personal preference obviously – and I can’t resist a make-up mini. Everything is HERE.
I’ve saved a couple of things for a separate post – the highlight palette is one and I’ll get to it next week.
