MAC Boom Boom Bloom

MAC Boom Boom Bloom

[productsample/affiliate]  Oh wow – this collection from MAC couldn’t be more perfectly timed as I’m looking out onto my garden watching my new ornamental apricot blossom tree bursting into life. I’ve never bought a tree before and so I’m absolutely astonished at how it made itself at home straight away and is giving the brightest pink blossoms you’ve ever seen. It’s easy to see that blossom – cherry in particular – is the theme for this spring time collection and the two Lip Glass shades are my favourites from what I have.

For The Frill Of It is the lighter version and Heart Melter is the deeper, more rosy shade. They’re both high gloss with rich pigment so saturation is really good in both. Of the two Heart Melter is more ‘me’ – For The Frill might be just a bit too plastic pink. They’re both £15.50 each.

The Lipstick I have is called Framboise Moi because it’s raspberry-ish presumably, and is in a matte formula. It’s a gorgeous, vibrant shade that made me think of 1950’s dresses for some reason. There are four other shades and they’re all £17.50 each.

As you can see, there’s a Cherry Blossom Prep n Prime – scented very lightly. Actually, when I tried the glosses I thought it was a shame that they didn’t have a blossom scent instead of vanilla. Cherry Prep is £19.

It seems a long time since I’ve reviewed a MAC x 9 palette and yet I love them for their low commitment smallness. I don’t feel overwhelmed looking at those little colour dots – there are enough to be versatile but not so many your head swims. This palette is called Kabuki Doll and to be honest, I’m surprised, given the overall collection theme, that it’s not more pink. The palette lid is scattered with blossom pattern so it’s really pretty but inside, it’s a selection of quite safe, neutral shades, some with pink accents but none making a bold pink statement.

I can easily wear all of these shades so I’m quite keen to get started properly on it. It’s the only palette in this collection.

Right, so I’ve swatched in rows of three going left to right on each row: Dust Off, Fortune Kookie, Making Mauvey Moves (matte), Don’t Be Koi!, Spice Dynasty (matte), Bamboo-Zled, Kyoto Kitty, Kabuki Doll (matte) and Tokyo Drifter. It’s £26.

See what I mean about the glosses? They’re so pretty. We’ve had a little glimpse of spring weather-wise, so I like the idea that I can keep having that in a lipstick. Blossoms are just so lovely.  Everything is HERE at MAC with Non Affiliate HERE.
