Lisa Armstrong Dazzle Stick Eye Pencils

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Anything that’s quick and easy to apply – that actually works – is good in my book since I lack the concentration to do much more than a fleeting mirror moment just now. I also love an eye stick so these Dazzle Sticks from Lisa Armstrong for Avon are an absolute joy.

If I was to be a little pedantic, they’re not quite as ‘dazzling’ as the name suggests but they do give off a good metallic lustre and importantly, they stay put! I’m so impressed with them. The colour edit is perfect in a mix of neutrals that vary in intensity – I’d choose Goldmine for a quick eye brighten while Gunpowder would be a good smoulder or smoky eye option (not that I think I have the barest spark of a smoulder in me – but I might – eventually!).

There are seven shades to choose from if you’re like me and can only rarely be bothered with anything more than a mono lid. Natural look make-up is a huge search term because it’s what we’re all craving at the moment, but when the office Zoom calls, these are the time-saving answer to looking ‘done’, but not overly so. And, any surprise calls – you can literally swipe your lids before you answer.

I wore Firecracker (the bright bronze shade) all evening yesterday and it didn’t wear off at all (despite a quick power nap) so the staying power is also impressive. If you have particularly oily lids, you might want to wear with a primer but I didn’t need to. I like these too for those of us losing our lid definition – it’s impossible to do a ‘cut crease’ when it disappears into folds but it’s very easy to do just a thick or thin line on the lid that shows at the lash root for some colour and cheer. The metallic element is even better for this – follow up with mascara and you are done. The only thing you might want to consider is that they don’t come with a sharpener so you’ll need to have the right fit sharpener or be an expert whittler.

From bottom to top: Firecracker, Perfect Storm, Molten, Goldmine, Gunpowder and Bronzed. At £10 each, these seem like a win for updating your colours or by-passing the onerous task of a palette and paring things down to a manageable mono lid. Like the sound and shades of these, and your review hits many nails on the head, but it’s the sharpening that has always defeated me with jumbo crayons.
Channel’s is twistup, so it’s easy though the tip stays squashed.
With a sharpener I’ve always found the casing prevents any useful action! So Ive a few such crayons languishing now, such as NYX, permanently unsharpenable!
If these are more amenable, I’d definitely pounce. (Didn’t know she had her own range)

It’s weird that they don’t sell an accompanying sharpener.

These look great! Love an eye crayon plus these colours are a bit different to the usual browns etc. And I have a kind of a soft spot for Avon. I wish they’d have another Lacroix collab.
For sharpening it may be wortn try popping them in the fridge (or outside/ windowsill ) and try one of those jumbo eye pencil sharpeners. Have a great weekend Jane, everyone xx

I have an Estee Lauder sharpener from Look Fantastic that has one size for normal and 2 for jumbo crayons. I’m a lover of eye crayons (have one Lisa Armstrong crayon) and have yet to find one that this sharpener doesn’t fit.

This Mac one is the same, the larger hole has a piece that slides out for very fat crayons https://www.lookfantastic.com/mac-universal-pencil-sharpener/11471957.html?autocomplete=productsuggestion

Oh! I’ve an excellent jumbo sharpener, I just thought the plastic casing on the crayons would defeat it, that it’s just for wooden crayons.
Blimey, maybe all the crayons I’ve retired as unsharpenable could be rescued after all!
      Great tip about the fridge

Thanks for the feed back on that – the sharpening is a concern.

  6. I love the look of these. They look so easy to apply and the shades are brilliant.
