Huda Beauty Power Matte Throwback Collection

[productsample] There are eight new shades in the Huda Beauty Power Matte collection that reference the 1990’s. I’m sure I’ve mentioned before but the first time I went to the USA one of the things that I was really struck by was the female newsreaders wearing nude shade lipsticks and I’d never seen that as a trend in the UK. Those and the foam cup bras which hadn’t made it to our shores either – game changer!! So, the Huda Throwback Collection really connects because it’s a modern variation on that exact theme I saw and loved all those years ago.

It’s notable that there is a nude for all tones in this collection because they go from spicy browns to neutral pinks but I’m pretty sure that back then, darker tones got no consideration in the colour selections for ‘nude’ lips. They’re wonderfully creamy – you can actually see the feel in the swatches – and of course, hugely pigmented. Mattes still aren’t my personal preference but there’s always an exception and when I want to channel my inner CNN presenter, I can!

The packaging is so classy. I love the effect of the colour of the lipstick on the tube fading into the matte black.
