[productsample/affiliate] It seems a while since I had a big palette to review – I think perhaps they’re not being released at the rate they used to be.
My Mercury Retrograde came in an iridescent make up bag with three double ended brushes (nice quality, cruelty free) so that’s how I’ve photographed it but now I think perhaps that the brushes and bag are separate to the actual palette. That’s the problem with not sending press releases – I’m happy enough to guess but I don’t think it’s my job to guess, it’s my job to know! So, I’ll just focus on the palette (£58) for now and hope that all becomes clear in due course.
I have to say, Retrograde is a beauty. There’s a big element of galactic inspired light that really shows through. There are several shades that when I first opened it felt I wouldn’t wear but after playing about and swatching, I don’t feel the same, with the exception of Haze, a vivid pastel green which will go nowhere near my eyes!
There’s Haze hiding up in the corner! Despite the fact that it looks rather dominated by pastels, in the swatch you’ll be able to see better that the colour selection is a complete mix with some shy looking shades being far more punchy on the skin. The foil type shimmers are amazing – each one does well with being brushed over and over so they shine even more to an almost liquid looking finish. My two favourites are Ultra Violet and Mercury; a purple and green.

I’d be prepared to put money down to bet that you won’t have experienced a skin care texture like this before...
If you really look through the shade selection, it’s clever. There are sunset shades, nude shades, deep, smoky shades and of course, the option to shine up any of the individual pan colour or go all out metallic, meaning there are a lot of looks available in one place. I think £58 feels steep for this, but the quality is there and it’s a solid exterior rather than card.
