[productsamples/affiliate] So much research and number crunching goes into what a brand puts out for Christmas – ideally, it’s calculated to the mark what quantities their consumer base will buy so that nobody is left with excess stock. I love the fact that Givenchy has pared its Christmas offering down to 3 products because it indicates that it’s tough out there and instead of throwing more glitter into the ring, they’ve played to their strengths and gone less not more. But, as we all know, sometimes less IS more.

Givenchy Red Line Collection

So, it’s simply these three – the Red Lights Palette which is a face/eye hybrid, and two shades of Rouge Interdit.

As you can see, the lipsticks have an intricate repeat logo pattern – it reminds me of Chinese lacquer work.

The top two Red Light shades, gold and red are maybe best for eyes while the bottom two seem more cheek. My only hesitation with this is that it’s quite small so you’ll need to be very precise with your brush in order not to end up with red or gold on it as well. I like the contrast of pastels with bolds – the cheek shades are very Givenchy – and when you see the red in the swatch, it’s also got an Asian influence I think because it’s a shade I’ve seen on a lot of bloggers from China, Korea and Japan.

Aside from the golden shade in the palette, the big sparkle is to be found on the lid. Both lipsticks have a kind of lustred finish that’s not quite sparkle and a bit more amplified than a general creme finish.

In the swatch, it’s (obviously) the palette shades first, followed by Thrilling Brown and Bold Red Rouge Interdit. They’re £26.50 each, while Red Lights palette is £44. The collection is HERE. Non affiliate HERE.
