Givenchy Lunar New Year 2021

[unpaid/sample/affiliate./ad] I feel so lucky to have a snow day to photograph this against – it’s throwing the most beautiful light for reds and brights.

Givenchy Lunar New Year 2021

This special edition Le Rouge is a rich, orange toned red lustred with gold marbling which translates on the lips to a subtly shimmering sheeny effect. Definitely high impact! The shade? 888 – auspicious for those who follow the lunar calendar (see on me at the very bottom of the post).

Of course Prisme Libre is dressed for the occasion in the same bright scarlet leather with gold embossing for the emblem. It’s in Mousseline Pastel No.01 which would fall to paler tones in this instance.

It gives a matte finish with radiance so good for oilier skin types that don’t want to lose any skin luminescence. I don’t think there is a lighter powder than this – I’ve been writing about it for the best part of fifteen years one way and another and I always love to play with it and photograph it. I don’t use powder on my face but if I did, this would be the one – I hate the feel of powder but this is so, so light that it’s barely there.

It will give some tone balance of course but you really need to find the right one for your particular tone so this won’t be for everyone. There are six shades in the regular boxes without the red lid (see John Lewis) going from Mousseline 01 (this one) to Flanelle Epicee 06 which is deep.

If you want to find them, they’re HERE, non affiliate HERE. The lipstick is £32 and the Prisme is £44.

Oh that lipstick is gorgeous! I had a frosted red years ago and I loved it. It was really flattering too. It was discontinued. I would love a substitute. Is the gold fleck obvious on your lips though? Or does it just give some lustre? Hard to tell from the photo.

It is obvious but not in obvious way if you see what I mean. There are definite flecks as opposed to it melding into a metallic effect.

Thank you! I think I do know what you mean and that is very helpful. ☺
