Givenchy Le Rouge Interdit Baume Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Givenchy has stopped doing seasonal collections – quite right too as there’s really no need for three (sometimes four) different collections per year. It’s reminded me how much store we used to set by seasonal beauty and it’s not really something that exists in any real state any more. Berry shades for autumn, deep shades for winter, pastels for spring and brights for summer. It’s a where what you like when you like attitude now and that’s great. That said, beauty brands would probably prefer to still dictate what we wear and when but I feel pleased that Givenchy has opted out of the chaos and is just giving newness as it comes along.

These new Givenchy Le Rouge Interdit Baumes are right up my street – natural ingredients (96%), hyaluronic, jojoba seed and Acmella Oleracea extracts all make for a silky, nourishing balm. The plant Acmella Oleracea is interesting, especially for its common names –  toothache plant, Szechuan buttons, paracress and buzz buttons. I feel that buzz buttons are a marketing department’s dream ingredient! It’s said to give a smoothing and tightening effect to the lips but so far I haven’t noticed anything.

The level of detail is what’s exciting me – see the Givenchy logo all the way around the bullets? I know that No.10 bullet looks black but it’s a very, deep grey with some burgundy undertones. It’s pH responsive and came up a lovely colour on me – it’s a French colour.

It’s pink with a slightly brown/grey edge and I love it.

The white bullet, No.00, is basic balm with no colour – it gives a pleasant gleam though but I wouldn’t describe it as glossy as such so definitely a winner for those who don’t like very high sheen. The balms are £34 each HERE.

Bit of a throwback, but reminds me of the old Ultra Glow green and blue lipsticks in the eighties that reacted to the skin’s PH too. One went a pink on me and one went this kind of pink-brown-grey colour. They seemed like magic at the time. I was, of course, only a baby (ahem!) then and really not an eighties teenager!

Doesn’t make my lips peel! It’s a dream. Reminds me of old formula Black Honey from Clinique. I love it. Sheer with a beautiful color.
